Question Build a better KA?

I've had my 240SX for quite a while now, and really like my KA. Not quite willing to go SR, and don't really care to boost it, but I do want to improve my KA's performance. What can I do? I was thinking of fuel injectors, fuel rail, cold air intake, cams, underdrive pulleys, igniton, electric fan among other things, but I'd like to stay away from getting into the engine's internals (headwork, P&P, valvejob, bore/stroke, et al.)

Any advice? Anyways, thanks in advance

w/o doing some headwork, you won't see a dramatic difference. And I don't think the injectors/rail will be worth it if your not doing internal/head work

i think that you could build a nice ka with what you have listed, and also doing a new exhaust i didnt see that listed wont give you a dramatic difference but im sure will help out somewhat, even get some ecu work done would help.

try to do a project that includes the JDM KA20DE and the KA24DE. i heard you can use the crank from the KA20 and if you add sleeves to destroke the KA24 it would make it a higher revving engine. and 4 bangers need more revs to produce more power the NA way.

But by destroking it, you're taking away the KA's advantage over the SR and the CA, its broad powerband. Since it has such a longer stroke than its other counterparts, sure it loses a few revs, but in return it has a nice broad powerband. You have power from 2k on till about 6.5k-7k. Now that's nice to have. Torque is relatively pretty flat on the KA. Not many engines around can do that for you. As for building a better KA, the basic bolt ons: intake, headers, exhaust, prob high compression pistons, new cams, less restrictive cat, lighter flywheel, lighter driveshaft, reporgrammed ECU.

First fo all, no one makes a super charger for the KA. Second of all, we talked about an s/c before and that would be godly. No lag, more power throughout all the power band. But sadly, that ain't happening. Best thing to due it build up the KA for some minor power or turbo it and get the beastly power within its broad powerband.

hrm.. i thought the lag wasn't too bad on our ka's if our turbo's' were tuned right.. but y'know what? i don' have a turbo yet.. i'll tell you about what i think when i get it

Haha, I plan on running a small turbo for minimal lag. Don't feel like shifting the powerband to the right when running a big ol turbo. Either way, S/C = no lag which is better than any turbo can get.

SC are less efficeint they lose about 20% of power to make power, where as a turbo loses about 10% (rough numbers) as far as not being able to get a supercharger for them thats easy. I already made a system for my KA24E and it would be easily adapted for the DE. And it was a trick carbon fiber snailshell too. too bad my KA was bad and I wond up taking it out
