Buying a 240, has bad gas in it?

Hi im buying a 240sx from a friend tommorow. Its been sitting for a while due to it having a blown head gasket, the car will still run if i spray carb cleaner in the intake piping but not for long. I was told since its been sitting the gas has went bad in it. Im wondering how much trouble is it going to be if i get this car and do a engine swap, what am i gonna have to do in the way of fuel lines, pump, and tank? Thanks in advance

If it has been sitting really long, the gas would seperate and form a varnish like substance and gunk substance. It might have gummed up the lines, pump, and tank. If it is really bad, then you might have to replace these or clean them out.

Yeah I was thinking bad fuel pump. If it has sat that long you'll need a new pump (you can get a Walbro fuel pump for just over a hundred bucks) and new lines but the tank you should be able to salvage.

He told me it sat about 4 years. I was going to empty the tank and change the filter and try that. But im planning on getting a walbro in the feature, the reason im getting this car is to do a LS1 swap. But i want to make sure the trans is good so i can sell it.

4 years = nasty *** gas.

I would try to locate another tank. Your going to spend 100 hours trying to clean the old one out.

THe stuff built up in the lines isn't too bad, just run some good fuel injector cleaner and premium gas for the first few tanks.

S/S fuel lines? Or you could just wipe your *** with 400 bucks lol. On a high pressure system like brakes definately. On fuel lines not so much, unless your rich as hell.
