Corn Fed

My 240SX has been converted to run E85

- I switched the fuel hose to Multi-fuel safe hose (although it is not needed on any car build after 1988) because the fuel hoses were 16 years old...

- The 240SX fuel rail is steel

- Fuel Lines from the tank to the engine bay are steel...

- Swapped in a set of 370cc injectors (SR20DET)

- E85 has less BTUs than gasoline, so it requires more fuel for the same amount of energy. Larger injector keep the fuel flowing at the rates the ECU requires with over-extending the smaller 270cc injectors by constantly running them at a high duty cycle during high engine loads.

- Gas mileage has decreased (If i was worried about gas mileage, I wouldn't own a sports car...)

- The Torque band is much broader and the power band is much smoother while running E85 or a mix of E85 and normal Gasoline.

- E85 burns cleaner than normal gasoline, so I am attempting to get my 240SX to pass 2 speed, dyno emissions testing (Houston, TX)

Last Night....

If I had actually told the ECU it was controlling 370cc injectors, I'll bet the HC's (hydrocarbon's) would have been lower... or switched to hotter plugs to burn more of the fuel...

But I'll take this

If we had E85 here I would do that... oh wait.. no I wouldn't. How much did mileage go down? That would be a big factor to me seeing as I drive my drop top to deliver pizzas to pay for the fuel she yearns for.

Pretty sweet resuts man.

Damn, E85 is 2.75 here. Funny considering a ****load of it is made here in Indiana. My dad uses it in his Yukon though.

Mileage?

I lose about 30-50 miles per tank, depending on how hard I drive it...

But I don't care.. the powerband is wider, the increase in torque is sick, and I have a daily driver now, so I don't have to drive my 240 everyday...
