Cut Ford Ranger drive shaft in a 240?

My cousin told me about getting a ford ranger drive shaft which is aluminum then having it cut to put in a 240, he said its a hell of a lot cheaper than going to buy an aftermarket one. What do you guys think? Also whats the widest tire that you can fit on the stock rims of a s13 with it not looking retarded?

Well I heard about the driveshaft thing from my cousin who's been building 240's for a couple years. He told me about it and I might try it out just for the hell of it since it'll be cheap. And thanks about the wheels I was just curious.
