Question Dirt Tracking a 240

Hey,

Im new to the world of 240sx, but not new to the world of cars. I have recently got a 89 240 for an awesome price and I race it at a local dirt track. I have a few questions regarding the motors that i could possiblity put into my car, because the car is fast and nothing beats rear wheel drive. With that being said Im not a noob to these forums and I have searched and I have some know how of what I need. I was wondering how much work would it actually be to drop a motor out of the nissan truck into my 240. I know where I can get two trucks with good motors for a good price, for when the time comes that i do blow my motor, its going to happen its dirt track racing.

So what can I keep off these trucks that is of any use to me, from clutches, transmissions to rear ends, I want to know. And before some of you say get another 240, there are not that many around here so I got to make due with what I can find.

Also I want to know about welding the rear end to make it posi. Mine isnt LSD so I lose a lot of speed in the turns.

Remember I am dirt tracking my car, so emisions sensors or any of that bull I dont need, I dont want. As long it runs, and runs strong its good for me.

So if anyone is questions my experience I have done 3 swaps to my 84 Rx-7,Rebuilt one of the motors. I swapped a 3.1 V6 into a 2.0L I4 87 sunbird GT and I have dont many swaps to various FWD cars. So I'm not afriad of a little work.

Thanks,

Brent

P.S. one thing is I am not up on the terms yet, but my KA is SOHC and I think the motors in the trucks is DOHC.

you can drop KA24DE (twin cam) from 91-98, CA18DET, SR20DET, and any RB inline 6 series motor.
you can weld the diff. as what others have done to their differential. you can get an LSD from another 240 with HICAS or you can just buy an aftermarket LSD.

you can use the twin cam KA's from 91-94 as long as it is OBD1 if you don't want to worry about your motor when some emissions are disconnected since you're just dirt tracking.

-if you swap the motor, the computer has to go with it.

why not keep the ka? all nissan baja trucks and autox cars ive seen are n/a ka's. 180-200whp would be perfect for romping around in the dirt.

Oh im keeping the KA, Im in a 4cyl class and thats where I plan on staying for a while. So your saying if I swap the motor out of the truck I kneed the computer too? because I know that the computers are fried, thats the reason he is getting rid of the trucks. I am also searching some easy mods i can do, without putting any money into the car.

By the way you can swap any DOHC KA into there. The OBD1 and OBD2 used the same block and such.

you can races anything as long as it 10 years or older. And for my class it has to be a 4cyl.

But as I supected I blew my motor last weekend, It was the second last race of the season. So I guess I better get me those trucks and replace the motor for next season. Whats the actual difference in thoes motors, for torque and HP #'s ? Can I expect the same performance, better or worse from these motors?

Thanks,

Brent

I know the truck motor has a vastly different intake manifold. IMO your best bet would be to just use the block and internals and use the 240sx head and intake and all that (I think its possible, you may want to double check though). Do you have any pictures of your 240 tearin up the dirt? How did it do?
