Emissions Control
Hey guys im back with another question. My question is, on the 89 240sx there is some emmissions stuff located on the driver side of the engine bay, next to exhaust manifold. Can i eliminate this stuff and have no probs with the car? (like check engine light?) I dont care about inspections cus imma juss buy the inspection sticker :D
Thanx in advance for any help BTW did anyone ever do this to their's? |
the big ole box that you see is a pair valve... you can remove it and plug the hole in the manifold... remove everything that is there and plug the vaccum line that goes to it... then you have to plug the hole in the exhaust... i welded mine closed on my header... and i was done...
the second tube that comes off of the manifold and goes to behind the intake manifold is the egr valve i took that off too... no cel or anything on my car... |
Awesome, Im gonna go do this later...
If it stops raining dammit :tear: |
Same here (dam rain!!!!)
Any pointers wikd240? What can we use to block off the EGR? |
Since we are on the topic of removal,
I noticed on the throttle rotor there are two cables....one leading to the firewall and the other going to what looks like a pump .....is this the cruise control and if so can I just remove it and its components and will the car still function properly?? |
yes, that is the cruise control......i love mine tho, don't know why you would want to get rid of it.
|
I dunno I never use the cruise control a day in my life
and I like to take stuff off cuz im crazy  |
cruise control is iite, its good for when your going to like Six Flags or suttin and your gonna be drivin for a while. But then again roads like the one leading 2 six flags in NJ are perfect for a lil race or maxing out car :thumb:
i dunno bout taking cruise control out. Anyone know how much it weighs? |
Yup. It weights like nothing but I just like a nice clean empty enginebay....
|
how much room is it actually taking up? Take sum pics Jon n post it, while your there take pics of the emisions stuff :thumb:
|
|
so what are you supposed to use to plug the lines wiht?
|
ive seen it done with screws :dunno:
