Yeah, I need to decide what to do with my cat... but when I get the ka turbo'd I'll probably just go with a straight pipe... I don't care about how loud it is... no one in this town gives a s**t

I prefer the tuner sound rather than the ricer sound myself.

yeah iSorta forgot to check these threads for a while... that`s one of those dyno`s iWas talking about, and iThink the other`s probably dead because it was a personal site. Some kouki owner who did a bunch of dynos on cam setups (those were enlightening too)

The n1 is the quintessential case in point here, look all over and you won`t find a single dyno showing less than the same person`s baseline before the thing.

Also, notice that in that zigen dyno, on the baseline, the torque goes over 125 right around 2000 and doesnt come back down... and with the 3 inch, it`s almost identical. You can go by the seat of your pants all day, but all else equal, the 3 inch car equipped car is as close to guaranteed as it gets to outrun you.

Again, the only reason you wouldnt want to run it is the fact that it`s very loud, which attracts attention. Silencers will help some, but I don`t have any experience with whether or not that`ll quiet it down lower than a 2.5 would be. The rice thing shouldn`t be anything to worry about as long as you buy from one of the known-good manufacturers: BRM, Apexi, even the Blitz and HKS systems don`t sound that horrible. They do vary some though, and it`s all about personal taste. I`ve personally been in a stalemate about whether to get a version of the BRM 2.5 or the N1 dual. The N1`s sound is that tiny bit more aggressive, where the brm can ... the way iDescribe it is "bwam" at low revvs. The BRM does do a lot more for charity and have better customer service and should last longer and... well, everything except the sound should be better on the BRM, but th n1 just sounds so goooood. Anyway iGuess iLeft the topic a few sentences ago, eh?

I would not recommend a 3" for NA, unless you like the way it sounds. And, if im not mistaken you will lose a little bit more low end torque as well.

The 240 has breathing problems as it is... giving a non turbo 240 anything bigger than 2.5" exhaust is like blowing smoke in some kid with asthma's face! IMO...really... if you want to turbo the car eventually, go 3" otherwise youre gonna sound like a riced out civic and lose that precious valuable torque...

Just my 2 cents
Forced Induction smart guy. what made you think of carbs?

I would have to say you are. KA's aren't little Honda motors, they're 2.4 liters with a big *** stroke, and they'll take full advantage of a 3 inch system. The only issue (other than noise) is it's creates such large gains higher in the power band it's tricks the good ol' *** dyno into thinking it lost low end.

I dunno if people are even still reading this thread, but personally I have the HKS 3 inch cat back system on my NA KA24e motor. I do notice that my most significant gains are in the high end...mostly high 4th and 5th gear. Since it was on my car when I bought it, I dunno what difference there is in midrange power from stock to 3 inch, but I do notice a lack of power through my midrange now.

Yes, 2.5 and youll be happy. I rather have it sound good and quiet than have 5 more donkies and sound horribly loud.
