Headers

Out of curiosity, what would be a good choice of headers to swap into my KA24DE? (96 240SX SE) Would any of the ones on ebay be worth it to anyones knowledge?

Sorry if this thread has already been made, did the search and didn't find anything

Hot shot are the only ones worth it IMO. the ebay ones usually have a bad fitment, espically with the EGR valve

I've heard the OBX fit okay but the welds crack after 6mos.

(and its header; not plural. we dont have v8's.)

The hot shot header is the best in my opinion. Iv had my header on for about 2 years and its still in the same condition as when it was installed. As for the obx there junk go with a hot shot!

How much hp gain do you get with the header? Is it worth it to buy? Or should me or other people just save up for the sr or rb?

I think you will get about 10-12hp from a header. As for sr or rb that just depends on your budjet. Personally im keeping my ka just for the fact that is cheaper and it slides just fine for me.

I have had my hotshot for almost a year now, and I love it. It added a pretty noticeable gain to the powerband, and the sound between my AEM intake, the header and exhaust was beautiful.

I have some bare header flanges & am making my own
Hot shot ..WAY over priced IMO( for what i'm willing to pay)
OBX..cheap & if you want to spend the time to grind the welds & reweld they are great( local shop can do it fo rabotu $30 for you).
But for me to spend the time to do that . I can just make my own.

does anyone have any idea of how loud and how much power u could expect to get out of the KA running just off the header

say for a drag down the 1/4 mile

i was thinking about pace setter header to a pace setter exhaust, and from the reviews i read its supposed to be really nice.
what you all think of that?

Not a fan of pacesetter, I've heard they don't last very long.

oh darn.. i seem to be having trouble with things people agree on..

for the suspension i was going to go with eibach drop and kyb strut/shocks. but then people tell me to go intrax, or tein.

so i dont know what to go with, but i was thinking just a tein suspension. shocks/struts and springs. and injen intake.. then i need to do an OEM brake replacement seeing they were not touched in 14 years and are paper thin..

Hotshot is by far the best header made for the KA, I have a pacesetter header and its junk. Exhaust Id go for the SSautochrome cheap, and straight. If you want to do suspension cheaply do you want a drop or a stiff ride. For a stiff ride Id suggest The RSR's or a semi stiff ride go with the pro-kits. For a drop sportlines drop the car, but the spring rate is a little low. I don't have much experiance with other shocks but my AGX's work great with my prokits.

Personally, I would never go with OBX again. I had an OBX header on my 98 Altima and we never could get the fitment right. First things first we had to shave it because it was warped when it got here. Took care of that but it had a real bad tendency to beat against my oil pan, loudly. Had to heat up the down pipe with a torch and bend the hell out of it to get it to clear. It did clear and the oil pan was ok but it rattled until the day the car died.

One good thing I can say about the OBX header is my welds held up great. Had it on for a little over a year before the accident and got it glowing a few times, I have the scars on my knuckles to remember it by.

It’s really your call. I was warned before I bought my OBX for the Altima and I didn’t listen. Got what I paid for. I will not make that mistake with my 240sx.
