my understanding of nitrous oxide is that it cuts your engine life down dramatically... its kind of like snorting crank - makes you go really really fast for a little while, but it kills you in the long run. so whats your definition of safe? not blowing the head off when you hit the button, or having an engine that will last over 150k miles?

how many miles are on the car right now? what kind of driving did the previous owner do - grocery getter or was he/she a wild ***?

Is it a wet or dry? if you were running a wet kit you would be ok running a 50. I personally would only run a 35 shot. If nitrous is set up and used properly it wont ruin your motor.

its a wet kit...last driver was a women in her early 50s/late 40s...dunno about owner before her......and i am going to put in a air/fuel gauge to much sure the mix stays right.....but i think i might go with the 35 shot now.

if you just bought it, and it was driven pretty easily I'm guessing, then you might want to get out and run it hard and on some good gas for a week or so before any of this... get the carbon burned out of the engine and get things back in the performance state of mind. maybe some injector cleaner too. I'm no expert on nitrous, but I think it'd be bad to punch it with a dirty injector and have it lean out instantly when the n2o comes on?

when I got my 240, it had been driven by a 50 year old man, and hadnt been over 3000rpm in almost 5 months. I got it out on the road and ran the **** out of it and it smoked and idled rough for a little while, and then it ran beautifully from then on out.

and as far as ruining a motor, I dont think it would either, just cut the lifespan down. just like a turbo, it puts added stress on everything, its going to affect the longevity of your engine.

jus between you and me... and everybody else on this board. *looks around suspiciously* i ran a dry 55-60 shot. no problems as long as you make sure u get more fuel.

i have a nx kit on my 91. i first ran the 50shot, then went down to 35 shot. i have the jets all the way up to 100 shot. but the nitrous will burn your rings up. even at 35 shot. it just takes longer. i know from expereance. im now puting in forged rods and pistons now to handle the 100 shot.

It was agreed upon in another thread NOS how much can the KA24de handle.......
If using a "progressive" NOS injection system you can run upto a 150 shot of NOS safely on stock internals.
Also using a better longer duration and lift cam for the exhaust to free up some torque and reduce heat in the chamber........

n20 is safe as long as u get more fuel to compensate for the extra denser charge of air

n20 preety much is super cold air(or cools the air), colder air is more denser and u can get more air in less space so if u dont compesate with extra fuel ull run lean and DIE!
