hybrid ka
#28
Actually the KA performs better on 89 and 91octanes....
The design of higher grade fuels was to prevent early detonation or knock and ping......
It is a falicy to assume that higher grade fuels add performance......
You are only burning a hole in your pocket book buying higher grade fuels.........
If you under stand atomization, higher grade fuels are used to allow it to mix under higher compressions and heat variables, this does not add performance in any way, only slightly "miniscuel" changes the power band, "not crank HP".....
Infact using higher grade fuels on an engine that doesn't need it doesn't optimize power, but infact decreases power, the best fuel mileage is shown to the octane ratings shown below through chiltons manuals, and the nissan manufacturing manuals......
These are the FACTS..............
The KA compressions:
(CR 9.0:1) 1989 KA sohc (91 octane @ 15 BTDC)
(CR 8.6:1) 1990-92 SOHC "KA's 240 and frontier models" (89 octane @ 15 BTDC)
(CR 9.5:1) 1991-92 DOHC (91 octane @ 20 BTDC)
(CR 8.6:1) mid 1993-94 DOHC (89 octane @ 20BTDC)
(CR 9.5:1) 1995-98 DOHC (91 octane @ 20BTDC)
For those of you that chose to ignore the TRUTH I will gladly demonstrate at the track if you chose to meet me at Infinion raceway..... "your Bucket vs. MY Bucket" I use 91 octane on my 91 KA with an advancement of 24BTDC at the distributor, that is 4 degress over stock BTDC, and I use bosch double platinum plugs " they run cooler".......
