iDunno man, in this country it`s one thing to have all the buildup parts so readily available to us to increase compression, swap cams, and use other things from common junk yard engines like fuel filters to increase our NA performance. Then you`ve got the aftermarket which ain`t bad. I/H/E is covered pretty thoroughly, and plenty of companies make internals and do work like port things and tune ecus and fix injectors and etc.
Anyway, on the other hand, in the land of Oz, where people are blessed with genuine, pure, silvias, and you have companies like Autech that do 200hp na sr20 jobs... I think it`d be pretty easy to change the formula to say "srde > kade" unless you wanna order some sort of complete crate from the states. You would think the SR has greater potential NA when you consider the stroke = revvability issue. The only way to fully exert the power of an NA engine is to wind it the heck out of it. If you`re talkin road racing especially, being able to utilize a powerband of 5000 rpm all the way to 9 or more. It`ll certainly be an advantage of building the SR vs the KA for NA. nonetheless, I`ll always prefer the KA for a number of reasons. The stereotypical one, that is, rotational force, or to be more specific, the tendency of the engine to exert large quantities of rotational force. The sound, the sound of an s14 KA purring from 4 to 7 is thrilling to me. More stirring than the sound of my favorite engines, even. (an 8 liter v10, preferably with the ACR exhaust, and the other being an RB26 with the 2.8 stroker and any decent exhaust) Power-per-variable, such as mods, or boost, or money. ^^^You can manage that high on a stock block KA too if you tune it right...its all in the fuel management bud...besides the KA will have something that the SR doesnt have...TORQUE
