Installed 300zx fuel filter today!

I was at wal-mart just wondering around when, im like hmmmmmmmm, I see the little thing where you put in the kind of car you have and they give you the part #`s for car parts. I put in 1995 nissan 300zx, came up with a fuel filter got it. I went home and installed it pretty easy I took the fuel pump fuse out but forgot to unscrew my gas cap untill I took off the top tube and it slowley came out, so I opened it problem solved took the bottom tube off installed it. I noticed it is about 50% bigger then the regular stock 240 fuel filter. I totally recomend this, it added response and hope fully gas mileage.

Moved to N/A section. Yea its a great cheap upgrade

yashin 02-10-2004 01:07 AM

hmm. sounds like a good idea, i'll have to try it

crimsontide240 02-10-2004 06:23 AM

did mine a while back, prolly 3 months ago. Worked out good, its a cheap little upgrade.

drnovascotia 02-10-2004 10:11 AM

lol, i'm glad i'm wearing off on you. It is a good little upgrade, same price as a 240sx one, why not a better one? Helps fuel flow faster, you can rev you car better, although not a huge noticeable gain.

Dr.

GUNLINE 02-10-2004 11:38 AM

you bought it at wal mart?

TORONTO240sx 02-10-2004 03:48 PM

300 ZX FUEL FILTER ?

Yeah I will give it a shot next time I have to change my fuel filter. I heard the K&N fuel filter works good too but I don't know it's available for a 240sx. Okay next upgrade: 300zx fuel filter!!:spin:

ryan15 02-10-2004 07:35 PM

Yea, mine is made from fram, it the same stuff you get from napa or auto zone.
Ryan

drnovascotia 02-10-2004 08:11 PM

it's a good cheap investment, and basic maintenance.

Dr.

GUNLINE 02-11-2004 09:56 AM

ryan15 02-11-2004 11:57 AM

Ryan

backlife 02-13-2004 09:56 PM

ryan15 02-13-2004 10:05 PM

Ryan

sleighty 02-15-2004 06:12 AM

I did mine on my lunch break at work and i like the quicker revving capablity...

TORONTO240sx 02-16-2004 09:32 AM

300zx fuel filter

Yes sir.

fist 02-21-2004 09:26 AM

the 300zx fuel filter is actually cheaper than the 240sx fuel filter...which is weird because the 300zx is actually much bigger...but i think it has to do with the 300zx being a more popular car. i think there is more 300zx's than 240 sx's....at least s14's.

240sxFan 02-23-2004 07:59 PM

I just replaced my fuel filter too! I got a 1995 one for my 1995 s14, man! that thing is way bigger compared to the 240sx one! I had to change the hoses too since one of them was leaking fuel. it works good, I just gota go and rev it up on the freeway now.

TheStartingLine 02-25-2004 12:09 AM

how much did you pay for it? im going to replace mine soon.

impact_grn_yosh 02-28-2004 12:28 AM

how were u able to place the filter where the old filter use to be the thing that holds it is too small!

fist 03-03-2004 05:08 PM

i havent seen my fuel filter and how it fit impact...but from what i've read it fits perfectly.

reason i havent seen it is because i havent seen or driven my car since its had the filter on...i am getting a bolt removed from the head....exhaust manifold bolt broke :(

the starting line...like i said before...the fuel filter for the 300zx is CHEAPER by a few dollars despite its larger size. any price i tell you would have no relevance because i'm canadian. and it should fit in the same bracket too.

regiment_zero 03-18-2004 04:58 PM

How much difference did the 300zx Fuel Filter make? I just replaced my fuel filter, is it worth buying a 300zx one? Any better gas mileage? Thanks.

matt180sx 03-18-2004 05:17 PM

i noticed a good sized difference from the 300zx filter, lot better response from my motor and it seems to pull harder, mileage is about the same, maybe a few extra miles a tank

Did the 300zx fuel filter fit in the bracket without any trouble? I have a fastback also. Another thing, is the 1995 300zx TT fuel filter the one you used? Thanks.

matt180sx 03-18-2004 05:28 PM

fit right in with no problem whatsoever, and i did get the 95 Z filter, but the autoparts store said there isnt any difference between the N/A and tt 300zx filters, and it was only $15!!

hitokiri_808 03-18-2004 06:58 PM

$11 at my walmart

stannyboy 03-19-2004 12:53 PM

how much better is it. cause that won't fit in the stock bracket. Is it a big difference where its that noticeable?

kable 03-19-2004 04:39 PM

this works for s13's and 14's correct?

matt180sx 03-20-2004 01:18 AM

yes, both s13's and s14's can do this and on both models it will fit into the stock bracket and lines with no modifications

lionel 03-22-2004 09:18 PM

so as soon as i get this fuel filter, it's okay to do it right away??? is it okay to do it with gas in the tank and oil in the car?

matt180sx 03-22-2004 10:08 PM

search on the faq's, there is instructions on how to do it, pretty easy to do but it is gas, so no smoking while doing it and you should disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent sparks

http://www.club240.com/forums/showth...ht=fuel+filter

read down, there is a good discription in there

sleighty 03-26-2004 11:23 AM

this mod is too easy........ you can do it

marqSR20 03-30-2004 07:27 AM

What octane rating gas do you guys use?

before i change to a 95 Z fuel filter. Dont wanna keep dumping in 87oct and dirt the hell out of the new Z filter if that matters.

tommyboy 04-01-2004 04:35 PM

I use 87 octane in my 240. I just put in my 95 300zx filter with 3/4 of a tank. Your gas really should not have a whole lot of junk in it. Just put it in and enjoy. My car runs 100% better. :thumb:

rivneo1 11-30-2004 03:48 PM

Ok guys listen there is a big difference between the 300ZX TT Fuel filter ,first this one is really big compare to the 240 SX one ,I bough it today directly from a Nissan dealer and I compared with the one they used for the Nissan 300ZX Z31 chassis ,both the S14 and Z31 chassis cars use the same fuel filter ,well since I was being nit picky about and I heard how much you guys talked and said it was an upgrade I ask the guy again and again he say it was the same but this other guy show me the z32 (90-96 300ZXTT) fuel filter and boy that thing is huge, what I want to ask is ,I think that thing will not fit the stock fuel filter bracket on a 240SX ,is anyone here has done custom bracket for theirs, and like I say check in the box of the fuel filter ,the stock Nissan 240sx fuel filter will fit alot of engines including the Nissan 300ZX z31 and to be more specific it doeas include the turbo model ,so make sure you get the part for a Nissan z32 (300ZXTT) and u will see what Im talking about.

Now the question is ,how can I make it fit ? custom bracket ? :dunno:

hitokiri_808 11-30-2004 07:17 PM

thread was pretty old but any whoo.

the filter for the 300ZX TT is the same as the 300ZX NA. yes it WILL fit in the 240SX. the bracket will expand.

rivneo1 12-06-2004 03:49 PM

Just put mine on saturday ,everything went perfect ,cant tell that much if it did really affected fuel economy but the car is running a bit better especially on cold, thanX guys .
