ka24de cams

Anyone have a picture of a ka24de cams? I bought a pair from a guy on ebay and when I got it, it looks stock-ish. It has numbers on it a 5 and then a 53p. I think it might be the s13 hot cams. Heres a link of where I got it

i have an answer for you on the cams... the 53p is close to the back of the cams... like 2/3rds of the way down... the 5 in your case is in the middle... my old cams has a 2 in the middle...which according to nissan when i checked with them is the stock cam number for my 93 nissan 240... i will call the parts guy that i deal with at nissan tomorrow to see if he can tell me what the 5 means... now this does not matter in regrind cams... because the lobes can be built up and reground... so they could be a different cam profile... only way to know that is to have them measured...and then compare that to the measurements from a known cam...

yea i was thinking it might be regrinds too. to answer your questions the 5 is in the middle, and the 53 p is 2/3 the way from the cam gear and it is chain driven

okay from what my guy told me at nissan this morning... the 5 is from a convertable 94 240 sx... same cam profile as the 93 cams i have... like i said this does not matter for regrinds... i would contact theseller to see if the cams are regrinds or not... ask questions from the source... if i can find my old cams i will measure them for you but i think a friend of mine snatched them up when he was diggin thru my old parts...

Take the cams into a machine shop for proper measurement. Then again you might not of gotten scammed the guy has a phatty seller rating, but it is only at 90.

I have a set of cams, supposedly the hot cams.
i guess intake side has a 1 and a 53F,
exhaust side has 4 and 53F.
if you could get your guy to confirm that these are infact the hotcams, i'd appreciate that a lot. thanks

nisilvia, if you need measurements on the cam lobes, i can do it for you. let me know.

like i said befor if the cams are "hot" cams it usually means that they are regrinds... nissan did not make a "hot" cam... all i can tell you is what they came from... this will not matter if they have been reground... there are 6 series of cams that nissan made... they might have the same profiles like the 92 to 94 cams... i dont know the diff in the 91 cams other than some people say they are a higher lift and longer duration...
like i said nissan did not make a set of "hot" cams... least none that my guy at nissan has ever been able to identify...

to my knowledge, the cams from 91-93 KAs (not sure of 94) are termed "hot cams" because of the higher duration.
240/248 verses the 232/232 in the 95+ KAs
