KA24DE Performance Advise S13
My Name is Cliff, i have a 93 240sx fastback with a Ka24de. I'm Wanting to do some upgrades right now. I just did a complete tune up. Its running alot better. I was thinking of just some simple stuff to get some extra power, until i could afford a sr20det swap. I'd like to put a Short Ram Air or Cold Air on it and a new exhaust. What would be the best Short Ram i can get to offer the best performance. Is that K&N filter any good? or should i go apexi or what? Does anyone know of a High performance Exhaust that would work with the sr20det and ka24de or is that a stupid question because they would all work? What should i look for in the best high performance exhaust i can get? that is just a hair under street legal? Alot of questions i know. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

First of all (I'm not trying to be a smart *** lol) this question has been asked hundreds of time so you should be able to find information by using the search button for this forum. It is always good to search before asking questions to save face.
But to the question, For your intake question It realy depeds on how much you want to spend. I have an AEM ram air which is good. The exhaust also depends on how much you want to spend, and if you want your exhaust to sound like a crapy motorcycle. Ractive is good for the money and has a good sounding and performing exhaust. There are a few free mods that you can do also, you can search this site for free mods and find them. Hope this helped you out.

Yeah, theres a lot you can search on. But I will tell you that the exhaust is chassis specific, not engine specific, so just get a 3 inch catback if you plan on getting an sr.
i did search, and i found some info i just wanted a little more thats all. i don't want an ehaust that sounds like a crappy motorcycle. so most any 3 inch catback will sound pretty good as well as giving you great performance?
Don't even waste your time and money on a header if you plan on going SR. Anyways, the sound of the exhaust is dependent more on the engine itself than the exhaust, although it does make a difference. Look for something with a resonator if you want deep.
No. It isnt noticably louder than a 2.5 inch exhaust. The type of resonator or muffler at the end or the number and size of resonators in the middle of the exhaust determines how loud it is. It will rob low end power, but to the tune of like 2hp. You will gain power in the higher RPMs. If you are going turbo it is worth it to just buy the 3in exhaust and rock it on your N/A motor for a while. There's little performance difference on a stock motor.
Okay so for now i should get a 3in catback exhaust and don't worry about the headers if im going SR in the Future? i want to do some upgrades that i can keep with the SR and not be a waste of money in the mean time until i can do the swap, you know what i mean. i thought a full exhaust might be a good way to start. as for the intake its not that expensive anyhow. until i get the turbo sr. i saw on alot of jdm sr20's they come with transmission. should i use the tranny that it comes with or could i use the tranny on my ka24 ? also i could do coilovers, strutbars and LSD, but then again i might as well go for the sr now because all that stuff is really expensive. just getting ahead of myself i guess. Can't wait to drive a Bad SR20 powerd S13
why would you use a KA24 tranny? use the SR tranny..and coilovers strut braces and lsd can be used on both motors...i would just buy LSD,exhast and coilovers..then use the SR motor and tranny
