i have just about every bolt on part on my kae, and have to say that the obx header is perhaps the one part that i am the most satisfied with. next i'd say is the tri-flow 1 cam from colt cams, i now wish i would have gone with the tri-flow 2 profile but i'm still happy with the results. the 1 pc steel drive shaft from the drive shaft shop is good although some like the aluminum drive shaft more. aside form the basic, intake and exhaust upgrade these are a few item that i would say are almost essential.

i'm not crazy about the aluminum flywheel though so if you want to save some money you can have the stock flywheel shaved a bit. one thing i did put off for some time was erpom tuning. i'm far form being able to correctly altering maps, but there is an na tune for our sohc engine that is just great.

i am new to the ka24e i use to have a ka24de.

where do you find the tri flo cams?

what about a bored out tb? would it be worth a go in a n/a build?

and what about bbp header?or stick with obx.. . .

i was skimming through your build thread alot of usefull info. . .

edit: found the obx header, on their website

still curious about the tb bore and where to find tri flo cam?

so should i go with stage 2 cam?

the bbp header looks exactly like the obx but costs less, even so i'd get the obx from ebay if you can find it. like with other headers, you'll find that fitment isn't perfect but it's close enough. i also recommend that you get solid engine mounts, the added noise is very annoying at first but you'll get use to it with time. that, and they will prolong the life of the header. the stock mounts are too soft, all that extra vibration can cause the welds to break over time.

the cam was sent to, don from www.pdm-racing.com who sent it to geoff bardal at colt cams. the triflow 2 requires some minor cam tower milling but the triflow 1 doesn't. i got the triflow 1 becuase i had just replaced the head gasket on my engine so i didn't feel like taking the head off again. looking back i do wish i would have gone ahead and had the additional work done. i'd forgo the bored out tb, it's just not worth the price imo.

also, i really want to emphasize the eprom tuning, if you buy the programmer and chip the ecu yourself it's only about $70. the tune can be downloaded from www.eccs.hybridka.com and perhaps one of the most impressive gains. the only catch is that you need to run +91 octane iirc, i have yet to try in but from what i've read this tune will yield 8hp.

if you plan on doing it yourself i recommend you read, and re-read these topics on www.eccs.hybridka.com in it you'll find all the answers you need. some things seem difficult and unclear, but once you start actually putting to use what you've read, it's actually quite simple. the program i use can found on ebay for about $40 and the chips and socket can be found there too for about $8. unless you'd prefer to buy a chipped ecu with an eprom with the na stage 3 tune, i have one that i plan on selling once i test it out to be sure it's funtional.

no, i haven't and don't plan on it because i costs $80 to get it dynoed an the closest shop. i rather spend those $80 on something else. if i were to do it again, there are some parts that i'd stick with stock as i mentioned, but overall i am very happy with my kae. it's not the quickest car out there, but it holds its own considering its age and technological drawbacks.

bang for buck and you have forged internals? eff it 150shot and your golden

NA is a waste of money you spends insane amount of money for minimal gains yet you want bang for buck there is no such thing. a good header, exhaust, intake will cost you over $1000 yet you still wont be at 150whp. and thats not counting clutch and lightweight flywheel. even if you get the cheap stuff and you dont care about that it still will be way more expensive then spraying it and not make a quarter of the power.

my KA24DE with DC headers, HKS high power exhaust, metal intake with Apexi filter, light weight flywheel and stage 2 clutch made 132whp lol
