Is the clutch engaging in any other gears? I would like to know if this is just a problem you are having with 4th or if you cannot grab any of your gears.

Sounds like you lost your clutch. I blew my friends clutch. At first we couldn't take it out of first. Then we couldn't get it to go into any gears.

Shop for a new clutch. Make sure a throw out bearing is included.

I went for the SPEC stage II from www.enjukuracing.com

Good luck.

well right now the car is in neutral, i brough it to 4th and then i somehow still had enough juice to put it into neutral and after that i couldnt get any gear, my friend suggests it might be the slave cylinder. what do you guys think

How many miles on the car? If you have over 100K and haven't changed it, it might be in need for a change. I have a SPEC II clutch and am purchasing another one for another car. They are great clutches IMHO and worth the $$. But if you have high mileage and felt some grind before then you might definitely need a new one.

yeah i have 125k on my car, the previous owner of the car was an older lady who only performed basic maintence so i probably will need a new clutch. When this happened i couldnt remember if there was a grinding sound, it all happened so quick, all i remember happening is when i was in 3rd, i was getting ready to put it into 4th, i stepped on the clutch and tried to put it in 4th but wouldnt let me so it just went into neutral, then i let go of the clutch and theres no pressure to bring it back up. now that i think of it thats was happened. i dont remember a grinding noise though.

Check you clutch master cylinder's fluid level. That will tell you if your problem lies there.

I've noticed that the clutch goes in these cars at about 120K to 125K so your right in that range. You will definitely need a new one IMHO.

well its funny because i was with my boy and we had gone to a maxima meet... his clutch was acting up just like u said... well we had a lexus tech there... he determined it was his master cylinder ... it cost him about 150 to fix... not quite sure... but it was between 100-175...

if your level is down on the master cylinder then it might be that, but with the mileage on the car, then I really feel that its time for a clutch change.

hey guys, i checked it out, and my clutch is blown to pieces, so i can only get a hold of another stock 240 clutch for the moment so that will have to do. i was praying that it was the slave cylinder, and another problem , my started pretty much blew up also, the core is totaled, the thing that bugs me is that the car used to start untill now.

well to start the clutch is not needed. all that is needed is the neutral position switch being activated. And as i Though I was right. Hate to hear the car is immobile, but once you get the new one, you'll be alright. Are you going to try it yourself to fix or have a shop to do it?

My clutch did the same thing. It was really hard for me to get into gear. I just replaced mine with an ACT street clutch. I definately recommend the ACT.

240SEX How much did you spend on the ACT and what level/stage?

Jonas If time is not an issue I would get a stronger clutch while you car is up on the lift getting worked on. Might want to think of a flywheel while you are at it.
