is my KA doing good?

as some of you may know i just got a 240sx that i ve been wanting to get for a long time.... 1995 pearl white SE with 82k.... auto :-( .... what i did was fill up the whole tank and reset the trip odometer... then i went to the gas station with the tank almost at Empty... and the odometer had 232 miles on it.... and when i filled it up... i got 11.58 gallons of gas... so 232/11.6 was 20.... so i got 20 miles per gallon... is this good for the s14..... i know you may think 232 per tank is low but i only used 12 gallons of gas.... and most of the 232 was street maybe 80 miles on the freeway.... what parts should i change to get me some more miles to the gallon....

maybe do a tune up and change out all filters, also depends on driving habits. WOT=less mpg

check your fuel filter and air filter. Your air filter could be very dirty if you havent changed it, do so, youll see how much more your car can efficiently reduce gas consumption. Tires can play a small role in this case aswell. If you think you might need new tires you prob do. tires in good condition can also help in the event of reducing the cars notorious ability to consume gas the way it is
20 mpg is good for a 2.4lt 4cyl. engine

ummmmmmm well you said that is only a little freeway miles, so yeah thats not bad mileage, i just got done with a trip went 900 miles, in my ka24det with 50lb injectors, and i got at least 25mpg and my car doesnt have an o2 sensor to self tune and lean itself out at cruise, which usually cars with o2 sensors do, but i suppose the ka24de might not be very good about that while stock. but there is no reason the ka24de couldnt get like 30mpg if tuned for it.....lol....... your driving habits influence gas mileage majorly! drive gingerly like an old lady, avoid braking and sudden accelleration, and you will notice your mileage increase!

I have a 95 with m/t and I get 25 in the city and 30 on the freeway. So something is probably up with your care i.e. fuel filter, air filter, spark plugs, etc.

I usually shift at 3k or later rpms. Last time I checked I got 28.5 mpg even though I drifted a little and also went 118, so maybe I am just lucky I get good gas mileage. One time I did drive pretty much at WOT the whole time for one tank of gas and I got like 23.5 mpg. So I am pretty sure all you need to do is tune up your car some.
