my poor car

Whats up guys, I just picked up a 91 se 5spd @150K for $500 about a month ago and it was doing great for a couple weeks. I had noticed a little oil burn-off but nothing much at all.
Well in the past two days, it has gotten much worse. First it was only doing it when i started to accelerate in 1st, and only after the car had sat idleing for a minute or two.

Now, everytime i press the throttle, i shoot smoke (an embarassing amount of it) out my exhaust, and also when i am at idle after the car has reached running temperature it will puff smoke.

I would like to swap a sr in (duh) but probably will not have the funds until fall/winter. I bought this to be a daily driver so as to keep miles off my turbo teg, but i dont want the thing to die on me before the sr swap.

Now i have searched a couple forums, and i have narrowed it down to about two culprits. EIther the valve stem seals are gone, or the rings are shot. Well, if anyone has experienced this and remedied it, please help, even if it is a cheap fix. Thanks in advance.

cliff notes : 240sx burning an obscene amount of oil, too poor to swap until fall/winter

i would say rings are shot. Sell the turbo teg, theres enough rice in the world. and buy an rb25det. lol.
No seriously, sell the teg, 240's need all your attention

PS. welcome to the forums.

ok update, today i did about 50~ miles of driving and after a while the smoke stopped...i dont know what the hell is going on...but then again, i noticed it happens more when it is hot outside, and it was cooler today.

cant sell the teg, i have put a lot of work into it...eventually i would like to keep that as a street car and track the 240, but for now, the 240 is the beater.

can anyone else shed some light on this situation?

i dont know, i would still think its the rings. I find that for some reason in my acrua legend when it warms up it loses power. I think that the cylinder walls expand and so the rings dont make as much compression. IDK, thats jsut my theory. It doesnt smoke or anything. I would say tear the motor down, youre bound to find it eventually.
