Hi, my name is missy. I just bought a 1989 240sx. It needs a lot of work. Unfortunetly my boyfriend just left for basic training for the army so i have to do the car on my own. Any help i could get would be great. First, my boyfriend swapped in a new engine before he left because the other one was blown, but this one is only running on three cylinders. From the information i found i think it needs a new vavle guide seal, but if anyone knows of anything else to check that would help. It also takes a few tries to start now and i have no idea why that is. it isn't the starter. it acts as if the clutch isn't in when i try to start it. Thank you for any information.

 

dump your bf for starters, he failed to do things right. 3cylinders? what was he thinking? how much money you have? got enough for a swap? ka24de? sr20 or rb?

 

I am in the process of getting a loan for 4000, but like i said i don't know to much. Would it be better to get another engine? What are the benefits of the sr20?

 

Search around for SR20DET and you will get more info on it. Sounds like your in quite a sht hole...Are you sure all the wiring and lines are hooked up right? Did he install a regular KA?

 

yeah, if u could post up a pic of the valve cover or tell us if it says 12 valve or 16 valve, that would help, too.
