new 89 fastback with blue grey smoke
hey everybody! i just got a 89 grey fastback. im new to all of this and mechcanically illiterate. the car runs fine, nice and strong actually. very powerful. the problem is when i rev it greyish blueish smoke comes out, alot. but it runs great for some odd reason. i also picked it up for 600 bucks! i was told it could be a blown head gasket. how much work needs to be done in order to fix the problem i got? thanks!
Sounds like its burning oil to me. There could be several causes for it. Not to be a dick but you could search the forums and find some of the causes because I can't seem to think of 'em really right now
blown rings, bad vavle seals, blown head gasket..........all symptoms of excessive smoke. In your case, my guess is bad seals or piston rings. There really isn't a way to check, so it's just something you replace.
When my rings went bad on my talon, I rebuilt the bottom end. Something you might want to consider after tearing up your engine.
