I recently purchased a cat back pacesetter exhaust. It sounds great, but when i really step on the gas there is a rasp to it. I don't know if it does it with the amount of air that is passing through it or what, because i can go to high rpm, just not quickly without it rasping, it and it seems to not happen as easily after it is warm, but even after driving on the highway for about 20 minutes, there is still that damn sound when i really step on it... Is there something that i need to do that will fix the rasp, or do i just need to finish upgrading the rest of my exhaust, and if someone out there had the same problem how did u fix it? and does the pacesetter exhaust interfere with anything on a stock manual transmission, because I read on a site that they only fit autos

Rasp *(read rice) is caused by poor quality piping, resonator, muffler, or all of it. Pacesetter is great for the price but I'm not suprised if it's raspy. Nothing really you can do, it's just not a great quality system.

i know, but there are a lot of people with the same cat back who havn't said anything about a rasp. I know big vinnie has one which makes me think that if i upgrade the rest of the exhaust it will go away maybe?

check you clamps and moutns ... did you WELD it to the car? Thats what should be done. Could be rattling against something under high air-flow or as you stated "really step on it"

i have never heard of welding your exhaust to your car... in fact, i cant imagine it would be a good idea at all. the engine/exhaust move differently than the movements of the body, welding the two together would eventually break the exhaust hangers, thats why there are rubber ones under your car

The rasp could be from the muffler itself, I do recall that when I first bought it. Since I have changed to high flow CAT and performance header it is louder, and I don't notice a rasp at all. It's defenitely not the pipe. Once the muffler is broken in for a while it should go away...........
It's defenitely not going to sound like a V8 if thats what you are thinking......

when i put my silencer on my exhuast i hear a rasp, so i took it out and chucked it as far as i could yeah its probably your exhaust or something small oem stock piping or something

LOL no i wasn't thinking V8 lol, my dad has a 351 windsor putting out 450hp na, a totally different sound. If you only noticed it at first that would make sense since i havn't put more than a thousand miles on it yet since i am at school. I was just wondering what cat u used. and there is no silencer on the pacesetter exhast... there isn't a can...
