Please Read Havint Driven In 3 Months!!!

ok guys...im new to nissans...i used to be a civic person (no jokes please lol) and now i JUST bought my first 240sx 93....well my freind had it before me and he said when he first bought it it ran great but had a over heating problem...and then it started to idle bad...so he gave up and finaly put in a new radiator and it stoped over heating but still had the idle problem...

now i have the idle problem lol...

when you start it it idles fine but then you floor it and it "putt puttttt put pt" sputers like a sonofa*****...if you give it half throttle it runs ok....but its also running real rich...it also sounds like there is an exost leak sonewhere near the cat....

he also informed me that the cat might be clogged im not sure im going to look under the car tomorrow....

ANY IDEAS?????

it could be many things including the cat. your oxygen sensor is another and it will make it run really rich located on the header. you can pick one up from the auto parts store pretty cheap. does it idle bad after it warms up? check your oil also to see if theres anything in it from the overheating.

man that sucks... leave your batt. unplugged haha then it'll restart the ecu or something.. haha

well.. recently my brother had a similar issue... his car started to idle bad.. then it wouldn't start.. so took it to the mechanics.. did that batt. thing.. *by just unplugging it for awhile then putting it back in* and then checked his codes.... we recently installed the O2 sensor and runs pretty good. idle isn't bad anymore.. we bought the o2 at AutoZone.. BOSH 40 bucks. give it a try.. maybe it'll work? good luck.

yeah and do a thorough check on your intake hardware. That black sensor near the filter (the one with the wider connector than the other sensor) is known for causing problems like this when it`s loose or there`s some form of opening in the system that isn`t supposed to be there. It`s called a Mass Air Flow Sensor (MAF/MAFS).

Your problem could just be an exhaust leak or bad sensor like coolant temp or o2.
