The real way to change your knock sensor!!

Depending on your skills it took me less then 15 minutes..
You need a swivle 12mm socket, 10 inch woble extension, ratchet, some electical tape, flash lite, and a stick off your fav tree...

Between the 2nd intake take your 10 " woble extention with 12 mm swivle and ratchet and take out the 1 bolt that holds the knock sensor. Then pull it out carefull not to loose the bolt. Detach the knock sensor from base and set aside.
That should take 5 minutes or less.

Now the fun part.

Take the same set up and give the bolt a little tape to secure it in the new knock senor. Get a stick and tape the end of stick to the knock sensor. Tape the top part were the plug is to the other side of the stick.
In the front of the engine go on the left side under the intake olong the right brushing the engine untill you see your in the right spot and slightly set knock with bolt in hole.

Then use the same woble and swivle and go the same way you took it out and tighten it up. This is the hardest part but take your time. You will have to adjust your stick and knock to agels wich allow it to be the perfect angle its not hard. Should take no more then 3 tries of the angel. Tighten and plug in top part and take off stick if you can..lol

Your done.. NO more taking off the intake manifold and bull**** that all the newbies say...

|PS go for a search to see my s13 vlsd swap with ease and pics..

I changed one last week. I wish I had either seen your post or thought about it myself. I did it without removing the exhaust manifold but it took me about 45 min to get the new one in place. I used dowel rods between the manifold runners to guide the new one into place and to hold it while I got the socket extension on it. It took several tries and quite a bit of time to get it in just the right position but I did it. Looks like there is more than one way to skin a cat.
