remove P/S

is there any way to get rid of the P/S on a ka2de, since the water pump is ran off the same belt, as the power steering it could be a bit difficult. and if the only way is by intalling an electric pump, what pumps work?

get a smaller compatible belt, or gut the p/s pump so that it's just a pulley spinning freely

i would get a smaller bel but, there is no adjustment between the crank and the water pump

good point... when I typed the first answer I was thinking off the top of my head.

So how about just running the pulley part of the p/s? We just about finished swapping an engine in my friends car and for now he's going to run no p/s (ka24de into an 89 S13) by blocking off the p/s pump lines.

I doubt it would be much. The only thing you'd probably gain is more difficulty parallel parking

why not though, any gain is good on a na ka24de, no p/s leak when drifting more feel of the road, less weight (tiny bit less) and to say that you did it hehe

better start doing more than 12 oz curls... the front end of these cars are heavy...i would think that power steering would be benificial in drifting... able to correct drift angles easier and faster with power steering... just my thought tho... even if the car turns a lot faster when moving when you remove the power steering you still have to fight the wheel to a degree... i would rather concentrate on making sure i can hold the drift and set up for the next corner than i would worry about loosing the powersteering pump for weight savings... and as far as the leaking power steering fluid goes... you know the wrist bands people wear when they play tenis or work out??? they work wonders for soaking up leaking fluids when cars are used in extreme situations...

i used the top half of a winter sock for my p/s and the top half of the other sock for my brake fluid. i have a 1980 volvo 3600lbs with no p/s ... i can handle the 240. road feel is key for me

1) Or buy the ricer ones on Ebay that have "Mugen" printed on them LOL

2) Or replace reservoir cap with one that isn't leaky or broken.

i just swapped a ka24de into my 89 ( 4 hours, started on second crank) and completely took off ac and p/s ( fan soon ), i guess because i play sports and work out alot no, p/s feels great to me.

wow what a baller!!!! we are talking about removing p/s from the ka24de no the sohc, read through the post next time, 4 hours for a sohc swap??? we did an sr20 in 5

No it was a ka24de motor that i put in, and i was originaly getting a ca motor just ran out of time. U need to chill son. I was just letting some guys know cause i told some people i have been down for about a month. Good for u and ur sr swap but whats the point of saying it u act as if thats an amazing time. if u have all the parts and no bull****ing its an average time.

Read befor u write, no hard feeling just letting fellow 240 owners know that one of the boys is back on the road
