i know that much but does any one have any pics or anything. the fsm shows the scv but it controls those pieces of metal in the intake manifold. are those the butterflies themselves. i just dont want to screw anything up.

yes they are the butterflies. the easiest way to do it is to go to a salvage yard and buy a 96 -98 intake manifold, because it is a ready to bolt on mod and you don't have to go through the bull and time consuming work of removing the butterflies and filling in all the holes in each intake tube from removing the rod that holds the butterflies.

thanks for the info, will prob do that, sounds much easier.

another question though. would simply removing the butterflies but leaving the rod in place yield any gains. i figure it would and it would be alot easier than filling all the holes caused by the removal of the rod.

What you can do is unscrew each butterfly. Then unlock the rod from the mani, or cut it out which ever one is faster for you. Then JB weld, or aluminum weld the holes closed. It won't yield as much as it could with out the removal of the rod as well since it takes up space in the runners. I have 2 OBD2 non scv manifolds if you would like one $110 shipped anywhere in the U.S... If you would like I can port/hone them for you for $100 more for a total of $210 out the door shipped. |
quick question, i have a 93 parts car and it doesnt have scvs. i was a bit puzzled so i searched and it appears late model 93s and after did not come with scvs as well. anyone care to confirm this info?

How can I tell that if I have butterflies? I know my girlfriends Spec-V has secondary butterflies and you can really hear them when they open up, but I never hear anything like that out of my car.
EDIT: I have a 93 Coupe. |
check to see if you have a swirl control valve. if you do, then you have secondary butterflies.

Sorry to hijack your thread, but Dkdeleon, did you mean the 95-98 IMs? Or do the 95 s14s also have the butterflys, and i should replace it with the 96 up?
