tach help!
i will try to make this short and sweet...
i have a 96 240sx that has a broken tach, so i bought an external one to replace it. the tach i bought has a total of 5 wires: 2 power (red), 2 ground (black), and i tach signal wire (green). i hooked the power and ground up right to power the tach, because when i iturn the ignition to accl the needle will move a litlle. i hooked the power and ground to the gauge face up right, because when i turn my lights on the gauge turns blue. but the signal wire was hooked up to the black wire that is traced with red that is in a harness on the side of the distributor cap. so whats wrong? what do i do? appreciate it newbie |
shouldnt there be a Red(Power)Yellow(Batt+) Blk(Ground) and Green( Signal Wire)?
Here what i did. I spliced the power cables off of my radio and got Tach Sig wire from Ecu Pin 3 Should be a yellow/Red wire. |
well, i checked my service manual to see about the #3, and it is to the tach. so hell yeah, i will try that tomorrow. to see if it works!
