tanabe hyper muffler/

i plan on putting the tanabe hyper muffler on my s13, i have a completely stock exhaust so far. and i just want a little better sound and look on my 240. however i dont want to replace the whole exhaust system as i might be going rb20/sr20 later this year. im keeping the muffler so i can swap it in with any exhaust i get for the new engine.

my questions are:

what fitting would i need for the muffler? if you look at the site below they give a few options, which one should i get for the stock setup and will it fit on a bigger piping if i decide to change later?

does the tip diameter affect anything?

what size is the stock exhaust on the 240?

http://www.tanabe-usa.com/exhausts/tunermedalion.asp

thanks for any help guys

Get the 80, and get 80mm/3" piping all the way(along with a resionator, you will need it). It will be a bit louder on a N/a car but I think you will live with it.

so theres no way to slap the muffler on my stock piping then later swap it onto 3" piping? im afraid to go 3" all the way because im not sure if the swap if definitely going to happen. i was trying to buy things that i could keep regardless of whether i do the swap or not.

Yeah if the muffler man puts a small piece of three inch right before the muffler. Then it will be with the stock pipes and if u get the engine u can just remove the stock pipes and extend the 3 inch to the engine.

Websites with Sound

What are some good websites with their exhaust sounds?

So far I've only found Dynomax, Flowmaster and SuperTrapp

Any other good ones out there?

if you are not sure of going rb or sr that means you will sell the car or keep it NA or got KA-T ... whatever you decide to do... i dont think 3 in will hurt anything.... just get a 3 in exhaust system now that way you want have to spend money later on and save ur stock exuast... and if you decide to keep it NA then slap on the stock one and get a ebay muffler for like 30 bucks and you ll be happy with the stock piping and the sound of the ebay muffler hopefully!

Dont go higher than 2.25" piping.
3" is a bit much for NA applications.

thats what ive been afraid of, i keep hearing 3" isnt necessary for NA. plus if i do the engine swap and i have changed to 3" on my current motor, the headers will meet up to the exhaust ok? thanks again for the help

also if i have a piece of 3 inch in front of the muffler, am i just going to slide the stock piping into it? will it leak? sorry for all the questions but i havent worked with exhauts before

Leak

If you just fit it in there? Unless you weld you'll get a leak, some people use the clamps... but can be a bit fidgety. Any air that enters the exhaust before the muffler can also cause damage to the muffler. So you gotta be careful.

i talkd to some people and they said the muffler guy can weld an adapter on for me, then if i want to go 3 inch all the way i can just get it cut off, i thought it was a big deal but it seems like it isnt, ill probably just do that...thanks
