werid a/c problem

hello i have a 92 240sx Dohc 5 spd

car works fine but when i drive wit my a/c on, the gears become very notchy to a point they do not go into gear anymore. The clutch seems to be engaged somehow even though i mash the clutch all the way in when this happens.

When i take off the a/c and shut off the car for about 20 mins the gears works fine.

i am thinking its something wit the a/c being on it heats up the transmission or something like that.
i am not sure
i was kina told it could be the clutch cylinder or something that if it get to hot?????

can anyone help me with this problem? these days its soo dam hott i need a/c

maybe it has a voodoo. Get an exorcisim done to it.

Or take it to your local spiritualist (mechanic).

Sometimes I see some things that are so wierd, yet related to each other it makes me think what is actually happening in some poeple's cars.

Your A/C isn't connected to your transmission. Like said above, it's not your a/c.

Change gear oil. Try that first.

probably has something to do w/ the extra load on the engine?
I've got an 89 auto and the engine runs like a$$ when i have the a/c on (not to mension i keep on losing a/c control heads for some unkown reason).
geez i hate early airconditioners

thing is, the a/c compressor runs off a belt to the crank - not the transmission itself. I'd understand if "when I turn the a/c on the car idles low" or something that would be related to load on the crank, but the original poster said something about his tranny gears getting notchy. That's where it doesn't make sense to me, because no matter how you look at the a/c compressor, it's a far reach to affecting the feel of the gearshifts.

BTW long time no see homegirl

maybe he has bad synchros and only notices it when he has the a/c on... the mind has a way of fooling itself like that. Anyway, like its been said before on here, change you gear oil, then see what its like. Other than that youre SOL in the department of advice

Ah ha!!!
the a/c IS connected to something called the fast idle control switch. i think that's what is fubaring the engine, and making the trans feel like it's going.

confirmed... but I still can't imagine how that would change the feel of the shifting
