what do you think about the ka24E
Picking up an 89 240 coupe this saturday, pretty much first project nissan car and have oh so much to learn.
PLanning on going na with the sohc motor(130,xxx), any input would be appreciated, wish me luck.

i think its a great engine but i like the KA24DE better. But if its in good shape you can get good power out of it check this out. you might of seen it.http://www.ka-t.org/jordan.htm

I agree the KA is a great power house that most people dont know about. Im doing a KADE turbo project and if you look at the numbers more offten then not the KA will make more power then the SR with the same setup and if it doesn' t beat it then it will just be behind it and kill it with torque.

1) Do a compression and leakdown check to make sure it's still healthy
2) Replace the fuel pump with a Walbro 255
3) Install a wet single point nitrous kit from any of the major manufacturers, and jet it for 60 hp.
4) Profit!

Picked up the car from New York, hell of a drive but it was worth it, very clean and good conditition.
What are some thigns that i can do at home to check to see if the engine is still and will be running strong?

I'm not sure of the leakdown test, but if it's what it sounds like just check to make sure nothing is leaking from engine??? lol
Anyway the compression test is a piece of cake, you just need to get the right gauge for it with the proper extention. What you do is take out one of your spark plugs and gently tighten the extention off the gauge until it's just snug. Then throw the key in the ignition and let the engine try to turn over a couple of times. Read the gauge. Easier to do with two people, one to sit in the car, and one to work the gauge.
