What is an EGR "Transducer" ?
What is an EGR "Transducer" ?
Well, i had my car diagnosed, and apparently my EGR Valve and EGR Transducer are leaking vacuum.
Now i'm not going to pay them to do it, i can fix it. However, i've never heard of the transducer.
I've been told and have read numerous things, and i'm not sure what is actually correct.
I've heard its something on the tranny (doesn't make sense)
And i've also heard its something to do with regulating back-pressure.
Anyone know? Please and thanks guys.

They're talking about a SR20de here, but I'm thinking since it's still a Nissan designed system~ it should apply. http://www.se-r.net/engine/troublesh...uide/info.html

yeah i did a search, but i came up with some other stuff.
so whati got out of that is that the Transducer is just the tube leading from the manifold to the Valve?
Hence the term "transduce" which is to Transfer from input to output.
So i'm guessing what i have to replace is the tube from the manifold to the valve, and the valve itself.
Anyone else have any Ideas?
ps, Thx cowboy turbo.

no the transducer is not the tube.... on most cars (not sure about the KA mine doesnt have an engine back yet) there is a flying saucer looking thing that applies or unnaplies the vaccum to the egr.... follow the vaccum hoses back and you should find it...
sometimes they use electronic also, which tells the transducer to open or close. so just follow the vaccum lines off the egr and see where they end up and you will have found the transducer...
most of the time the egr isnt bad, the transducer get a leak and wont work... if the vaccum lines are not broke fix that first, and then the egr if the problem still persists.
you may be able to test the transducer... if it has hole sin it, you can press the diaphragm up and put your fingers over the holes.... if it stays up then it is good if it falls then it is bad, and has a leak.
