There's a gas station at the turnaround for bear mountain. There's also a lookout point AT bear mountain, we could just as well meet there.

Bear Mountain is several things. The actual Bear Mountain park is on the west side of the Hudson, near the NY State Trooper barracks. The road there is OK, but it's not super challenging. there's one turn there that would be great for drifting, but over there is like SO close to the state troopers, I dunno.

Bear Mountain's east side (over the bear mountain bridge) is where the big fun is. This road runs all along the side of the "cliff' that goes down to the Hudson. Blind turns, off camber, it's a TON of fun.

But, I reiterate, this is very close to the STATE TROOPERS BARRACKS. The road over the bridge is also a commuter's road. It's quite common for there to be cars on it. The water-level side is near a military base.

Now, if we're going to be SENSIBLE about this, here's something I propose:

If there's at least 3 of us (which it appears there will be), you get at least one guy at "start" and one guy at "finish" and send the other car along the road. Ideally you want everyone to have a CB radio or something, so that if finish guy sees someone come on "course", they can alert the driver that there's a car coming.

The other thing to do is for the finish guy to flag down the car and ask them to wait a minute or so for the guy coming to finish.

Now if you're not crossing the centerline, this isn't a problem.

Odds are that there are police on this board and we'll all get arrested, but whatever, sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do.

Meeting at that park by Palisades Parkway probably isn't a good idea. Are we doing this at night in the dark? the gates are locked I think. We could meet at the lookout point at bear mountain or also at the gas station by the parking circle.

Here's a satellite photo I doctored:

the lookout tower is closed for the season, icy roads. to park at bear mtn is $5. i recommend meeting somewhere, run bear mtn, then run storm king mtn. bear mtn and the surrounding roads are my local touge and i know them like the back of my hand. this past weekend me friend and i were running it in his his Z31 300zx and hit a turn and the rear end snapped sending us into quite a large ditch and we had to get a tow truck to yank us out. we have it on vid, working on getting it hosted. if i fix my master cylinder ill be their.

I suggest whoever plans the meet has the eta, exact location, so we would have an idea, not everyone is a local you know.

Makes sense to me. I think there should be a log of who is going to actually show up.

A headcount?
