i'd have to go with the slurry of non-HIV STD's. they're more treatable aren't they?

Yes. Guys can't pass on HIV like that (to children, and if you're careful not to the mother either). Even with proper treatment the child has an extremely good chance of not getting aids from an HIV positive mother.
