Banned from YOUTUBE , possible lawsuit

I was Banned from YOUTUBE for uploading Formula One audio/video.

I even received threatening emails from Formula One Administrations (FOA) concerning lawsuits.

"We have noticed that you are displaying and/or offering Formula One (tm) A/V content.

Formula One Administrations Ltd ("FOA") is the sole proprietor world-wide of all sound and moving picture rights in the FIA Formula One World Championship (tm) (including still images derived from the moving images) and as such has the exclusive right to control, manage and exploit these rights. All copyright in such images vests with FOA.

As you have neither sought nor obtained permission from FOA to use the A/V content your present use is an infringement of FOA's rights. Please immediately cease all such infringements on any and all of your web sites and confirm to us via email that you have done so.

I confirm that FOA is the owner of the exclusive rights to the A/V content referenced above and that NetResult is authorised to act on its behalf with respect to internet monitoring and compliance. On behalf of FOA I hereby state that I have a good faith belief that use of such A/V content in the manner complained of is not authorised by FOA, its agent, or the law.

Please note that nothing in this letter is intended or shall be construed to constitute an express or implied waiver of any of FOA's rights or remedies, all of which are expressly reserved.

We thank you for your cooperation.

Yours faithfully,
Tom Walker*

Their copyright malarkey is so full of BS. They can't actually claim "all rights reserved", no matter what they tell you.

They're as bad as patent trolls. Uploading something to YouTube doesn't cause them to lose a cent, they're just flexing their muscles (read: abusing their undeserved power) because they can.

where did you get this a/v? i say if its what you recorded, and as long as you aren't filming it and selling copies, it should be legal, with or without their lawsuit jargon

he was so freaked out that they not only knew his real name but also where he lived.

Its illegal to even record the race on VHS. It's doubly illegal to give it to anybody even for free.

Wow, that is very retarded. There are people out there putting entire movies out on YouTube, and have been up there for the better half of last year, and are STILL up.

I love how they're really taking this to the next level. The government is probably going to start putting up laws on the internet, because there basically are none so far. That's going to be retarded.

Which is BS, in and of itself...
