finally got a telescope

i've been wanting a telescope ever since i was a kid so i finally bought one. i haven't used it yet but plan on it tonight. here a pic i borrowed off line. it's a big pic that's why i posted the link and not the actual pic. i mainly plan on looking at the moon and stars so i should suit me just fine.

what's next you're going to break your leg and stare at your neighbor kills his wife, and everyone will think you're paranoid?

I dont have much interest in it. But it would be cool to get one that has a camera attachment. Id hook up my dSLR to that thing and start snapping pictures of stuff.

actually this one dose have a camera attachment. the bad part is the camera i have is only a $150 camera. i do have a friend who has a better camera that is somewhere in the $900 or so price range that i can barrow if needed though.

i forgot to mention that some software came with the scope, it's call the sky. with it i can find planets galaxies and anything else out there that has been charted. i simply put in my location on the earth and it gives me the coordinates to find what i'd like to see. i wanted the scope to see the moon but for the last three days i haven't seen it out at all.

We have one, and it is really cool to look at the moon with, though it is really the only thing ours is any good to look at. It is just cool to see the moon slowly move through your view, and see all the craters.

Nice buy, it's cool to point it at the sun and light things on fire with it. Really though, telescopes are awesome.

i don't think i'd be able to set stuff on fire with this one because it's a reflecting scope. but if i could i defiantly would set bugs on fire with it.

Nah, you can still use a reflecting scope. In my astronomy class we use a 6ft tall, 2 ft diameter reflecting telescope to look at the sun and when you dont have the solar filter on it it literally starts smoking at the eyepiece.
