I love my A630 Powershot, it can record in high resolution 640x480, low res 640x480, 320x240 high/low and can do photo stitching . . . I can recommend it, but not above some of the other options. It all depends on what your budget is and what you're going for.
Some people prefer to record straight to disk, some people prefer to have encoding options on their camera, some prefer MiniDV, I mean . . .it's really up to you.
Hell . . .get a VHS-C camcorder and one of those crazy bolt on camera mounts, LMAO!

LOL. Not very good budget if it falls and breaks into a bajillion pieces on the first day is it? How much did your set-up cost? You paranoid about it ever falling off during your drift days? Im going for spirited driving.

LOL! I really don't even think about it. Trust me, when you're sliding, that camera is the LAST thing on your mind, HAHAHAHAHA! It's got a strong suction cup and I always clean the window before putting it on. Heck, even when I DON'T clean the window it still stays up there. It's held on up to 80+mph and it's lasted throughout various events . . .and I'm not very light on my car, LOL! Shock Drifting FTW!
The camera was free with my Printer, but I think by itself it runs about 250 bucks. There are better cameras out there that are smaller, lighter weight, get better resolution, but like I said, it's all up to what you want/can afford. My camera is pretty big for a digi, but it does the job and that's all I can ask.
The Panavise can be had from www.amazon.com or by visiting the Panavise website. Police Departments, Sheriff's Offices and State Troopers around the globe use Panavise products so unlike some cheaper ones, you can rest assure that when you put this one on, it'll stay there!
Heck, I'm so assured in it's stability that I worry more about wind noise than the actually tenacity of the mount. But yes, trust me, if it'll hold up to what I'm doing on the track, a spirited romp through a mountain pass will be NOTHING! LOL! In fact, it held up during my spirited romp with my friend Dave, LOL! It also survived several spin outs, a couple of missed entries and even being backed into a pole at Elite Summer Nationals Drift Competition, HAHAHAHA!
It's a beast and it's so compact that people really underestimate it.
