Guy Gets Shot

About a week ago in my area, a man and his friend, both in the same car, were shot simply because they were playing their system too loud. The driver was killed, but the passenger survived a bullet wound to the head.

This just goes to show that anything can happen, and that there are some pretty ****ed up people out there.

That's pretty gay.

Yea, and this was at about the same time when I got my Alpine HU and everything.

Not to pick on you Rainy, but how can someone who is gay be compared to someone who got shot? Calling something bad gay does what? Is it wrong to be gay? absolutly not. Am I gay? Absolutly not, but do have gay friends, and there's no reason to use such remarks against people who are gay. Thats only a step better than being a racist in my opinion. Not picking on you, just want to know why you would say that?

He wasn't saying that the guy was gay.

He was saying that the circumstances were "gay".

"Gay" in this context is used to express an extent of stupidity or unfounded action.

It's the cool thing to say when you don't like something that happened.

how do you know thats why they were killed?

i dont know if i believe this.

maybe if a news link was posted up i would, but other than that....its kinda too hard to swallow

That sure is dumb...but is that really why they got shot?

l2aine 01-03-2004 09:35 PM

whoa whoa easy there doc... if I were comparing getting shot to being "gay" as in "homosexual" then I'd say:

- "that's like being homosexual."

Dunno about the right coast, but "gay" out here doesn't necessarily refer to sexual preference. same as "lame" or "retard" or "moron".

SLANG :)

Let's go to England, and I'll say "...that's a fag." They'll say to me, "...yes it is; want another cigarette?"

I love ya doc... in a NON-GAY WAY

:D :thumb:

Actually my mom told me about it, I didn't see it personally on the news, but she did.

Here is a similar story. Not the exact one, but same circumstances.

:werd: Out here in good ole NY, it's the same way. It's just that words tends to get a new meaning w/ each generation. I know some homosexual people that even call stupid things gay.

That is bogus. It is africa. The shooter was aimed at the lion behind the guy and missed.

wow. serious droppin of science going on in here. i mean, peeps breaking down the etymology of certain words up in here. sh1t's crazy.:p seriously, i think the gay thing (in this context) has been far removed from it's previous meaning (not to mention, at one point in time all it meant has "happy"; ain't THAT a *****?). although i can understand the Doc's concern for fairness, as we don't want the boards to be a place where people are singled out or made to feel unaccepted, i think that was not the intended use of the word. for more fun, try dissecting "rice", "riceboy", or "ricer". i'm sure those can be taken as racial slurs even though the usuage of the words have changed drastically.

whoa, where the hell did that come from?:dunno:

anyway, back on topic, that was pretty ***ked up.
