hey guys i am doing a report along with a friend of mine on the history and origin of drifting. I have used google and done some searching but i cant really find anything good. if you guys can help me it would be really appreciated.

damn, i forgot all about the VRT site. oh well, i kinda rushed and grabbed any links w/drifting and history in them. i've found various different sites with all kinds of different versions of drift history. most seem to agree on the "born of touge racing" theme. but i've seen explanations ranging from WRC to sprint cars, to the Dukes of Hazzard. not being an official "drift historian", i can't vouch for any version in particular. however, i believe the common story about it starting in the mountains of Japan. and yes, it is not the fastest way around a corner (barring low traction circumstances likes those found in WRC and sprint car/dirt track racing). my apologies if i facilitated the spread of misinformation...
