illegal ****

I dont know if anyone else has noticed this but on the back of the leather nismo shift **** package, theres a lil sticker with a stern warning which reads....
"This part has been designed and is intended for off-highway application only. The installation of this part on a vehicle intended for use on public streets or highways may violate laws and regulations relating to motor vehicle safety standards or emission regulations. Additionally, this part is sold "as is", without warrenty of any kind whatsoever, expressed or implied. The installation of this part could also void vehicle or other Nissan warrenty coverage, or result in otherwise covered repairs being excluded from coverage. Refer to an authorized Nissan dealer or performance specialist for proper installation."

I was in such disbelief when I read this that I just had to share it with everyone.

Does the **** have the shift pattern on it? If it doesn't and isn't on the dash then it is illegal. Go figure.

The pattern has to be visible somewhere to the driver, either the ****, dash, or whatever. That's why alot of them come with the little sticker to put on your center console.

My veiw point, if you're not bright enough to figure out whether your own car is a 4, 5 or 6 speed, it should be illegal for you to be driving stick in the first place. Even if it isnt your car you should feel out the shifter and gates before driving the damn thing anyways.

The problem with that is. If someone steals your car( or tows it, has to work on it, ect..) YOU will be held liable for any & all damages. YES, I did include steal it. If they steal it & wreck it. Beings as the shifter was illegal, you WILL be held liable because of it, because they couldnt operate it properly( if they could damage might be avoided).
I know a woman who got sued by a guy that broke into her house & cut himself on a butcher knife while trying to get out. He sued for over $1 million & won the case, & also because she had children & the knife was in plain view, her children could have gotten ahold of it. So she was also charged with child endangerment.
The legal system is a *****.
