Are you talking about Sato and Mako, or the Spirit Type R girl? Sato/Mako (or Maya and Simone, if you're watching the faggy English version) are in second stage, while the Spirit Type R girl is in fourth stage. Fourth stage airs in Japan April 17th, so you won't see it until like 2006, unless you know where to get them.
Anyways, yeah Initial D rocks. Just wait until Takumi races the Evo III and
***********SPOILER*************
he blows the engine. His dad puts in a racing AG101 racing engine that redlines at 11k. =D
DAMN YOU!!!

TopkyoPop came out with "Americanized" Versions of the series for sale here in the U.S. under the TokyoPop label, but they redubbed the voiceovers and changed a lot of the names to American (or worse, shortened versions of the Japanese names) i.e. Takumi became "Tak", Keisuke became "K.T.", Mako became "Maya", etc. This coincides with the American version of Initial D: Arcade Stage (the arcade game). Many diehard fans of Initial D hate the TokyoPop version because even the music is different and the storyline was tweaked from the original.
So expanding on that, there's 2 versions of the Initial D DVD Series - the original (and IMO better) version, and the TokyoPop Americanized version. The original version is 4 sets of DVDs, the TokyoPop version they split it up into like 3 episodes per DVD or something so they can make more $$ I guess.
Also, there's 2 versions of the Initial D arcade game - Japanese (better, purer) and American (with the same TokyoPop American names).
Oh and if anyone says they have The 4th Stage DVDs they're lying - it's barely out now in Japan on National TV (the 4th Stage DVD's for sale on Ebay are just "prologue to 4th stage" and not the actual 4th series)

In this series her friend drives a sivlia, the guy who tought her how to drift drives a skyline, there is another girl with an EG6 Civic (like in Initial D). And there are so many other cars from europe. Also It isn't just about drifting, she drags and she also does freeway racing.
