It's HERE! 1986 Toyota Corolla SR5 aka The New Track Car
LOL, and boy has the change been aplenty, so far it's just been dirty change and dirtier dirt . . . .I found a marble, but that's about it. I've always wanted to find like a gun or something while working on these cars, kinda explains why I've been through so many, LOL! J/K
Thanks for the questions bro, enjoy your holiday!
I'll definitely keep you all posted.

More updates . . . got the rear stuff out, got the car cleaned up, vacuumed the MESSSSSSS outta that interior and had to remove some leaves. I'll probably get back into it tomorrow, but for now, it's late . . .here are some pictures of my progress
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Woke up in the morning and snapped these pictures (was about 8AM when I got started)

8:15AM: Started tearing into the interior again!

9:30-ish . . . . all was out . . . started laying it out so I can post it on Club4AG for sale!

2:00PM . . . .by now, I've gone to the local parts store, bought some vacuum lines for the engine. Got it running, it's still got some issues, but that's what mechanics are for right?
4:30PM . . . .got my interior vacuumed out, FINALLY, that stuff was dirty, I literally vacuumed up 10 dollars in change! So much crap on the ground, and the dirt and debris was so thick that I had to pull out the FRONT seats just to get everything cleaned . . .but . . .it was all worth it!

SO CLEAN!
Wuv!

UPDATE!
Here we go team! Got some pictures from before the rain fell, didn't do much, just got some photos uploaded that show the decals from some of the sponsors. The others haven't sent in their logos yet, but they will and when they do, I'll put up some more photos!
Enjoy ^_^

"Yeaaaahhhhh . . .*breaths deeply* . . . .I'm gonna have to ask you to go ahead and . . . .move those stickers somewhere else . . . . . yeeaaaaaaahhhh . . . and go ahead and put them back on . . . . just . . . a little nicer this time."
"Yeaaaahhhhhh, if you could do that . . . . *sigh* . . . . that'd be great . . ."
LMAO!

That's severely limiting the variety of choices of car and classes of competition you can run in. There's so much to experience in the driving world, especially now that you're in the SCCA!
The classes that become open once you start looking at all sorts of cars, both old and new, is phenomenal. American, European, Asian, it's really limitless. Whether it be FWD, RWD, AWD . . . .whether the engine's in the front, rear, middle or some strange mixture of the three, the possibilities that are available to you now will really blow your mind.
The main reason for doing this project is to see where racing can go as far as really pushing this car to and passed it's limit of normal acceptability for racing. I knew it was time to get this car when I heard people saying
"That car is too slow for time trials!"
Oh really, Batman!
We'll see . . . I'm no tuner and I'm definitely not a mechanic, but I AM a driver, 2 racing schools (3 if you count the various organized HPDEs), and seat time behind lots of high performance, extreme performance, econobox and lots of other types of vehicles. There's a limit to how far you can take a car with power and suspension, but there's no limit to how well you can drive it.
I dunno, I just think that the older cars definitely have their place in racing, which is why the "Classics", "Vintage", "80s" and "70s" categories were created. The same holds true with newer cars, each time a car is released on US Shores, it's immediately categorized by the sanctioning bodies of the SCCA and NASA and then cars within and around those categories are then adjusted as well as necessary.
I can go on for hours about how the categorization and classifications of the SCCA work in detail . . .but . . .that'd be digressing from the original point to be had and would take an exceptional amount of time.
All I'm saying is . . . think that one out before you say "I'll never own a track car that much older than 98" because the world of racing and motorsports has so much to offer that'd you'd be building your own brick wall by setting that stipulation up for yourself, especially this early in your motorsports career.

Congrats on the purchase. She's a beaut.
I had a GTS for all of 1 month before selling it and picking up my 240. Then I sold that and moved on... the e34 you have there is sweet too. I definitely want one of those someday, or an e39. Hope you don't mind me asking, but where did you find the Corolla? I've been thinking about replacing my CRX dd with something rwd, so I've been poking around for e30 (or earlier) bimmers, 240's, Corollas, and Miatas.
Well put.

I like E30's a WHOLE LOT! My first BMW (of 3) was an E30, that car had to be one of the most fun to drive. It's definitely the one car I can say that was completely driver oriented. Nimble, tail happy but grippy, and plenty of power. It had performance that most had to tune to achieve. Lots of fun all around and a pretty good aftermarket. The only thing with BMW is that almost every part is just that much more expensive to purchase, which is why I race the Rolla, LOL!
I bought the Corolla from a friend here in Georgia. He sold it to me for 800 which is a pretty good buy from what I hear. I can't wait until this project really gets underway.
Good luck with your search! I can't wait to see you on the track!
