muslims

i dont know if you people are unimformed about muslims or not, but i sure as hell was.

and then today in my 3 hour class, we had a guest speaker....this 20 year old guy from pakistan (sp?) and he was basically there to answer our questions, and tell us about islam

i'd have to say, i was REALLY misinformed. even the craziest thing of all....this one lady in my class who thought she was a devout christian actually said she agreed more with what he said about islam than what she was being taught as a christian.

so my advice to you all is to go out and be aware

I've read some parts of the "genesis" equivelent in the Coran and it does make a hell of a lot of sense. I really like the way they described it all. I guess it could all be due to the fact that it's a newer religion???

It is always better to research a subject before you inflict your bias opinions on a subject. So i think it is a real privelage to have a guest speaker like that. There are too many ignorate people in the world who spout off at the mouth without knowing anything

No, Mohammed was born around I think 500 AD. I might be wrong, but it was after Christianity started.

I have heard a quote out of the Koran:

There is only one god and Mohhamad is his prophet.

I dunno what this means though

Good job Leiferik. I hate when people don't know **** about things, especially controversial religions or ideas and bull**** around. You guys are right on the target, and yes Islam is the youngest major religion. I can answer some of your questions as well, since I am Muslim.

This is part of the 5 Pillars in Islam where you have to pronounce that "there is only one God and Mohammad is his prophet." This pretty much means that Allah(God) is our one and only god and Mohammad is a prophet, not god. This is because some sects of the Christian religion I think, believe that Jesus WAS God. We believe that Jesus was only a prophet and not God.Initally Mohammad was contacted by Gabriel (an angel) and only received messages directly from God. The fact that he could not read or write makes the validity of the Koran more than the Bible or the Torah because it was believed that Mohammad could not write such intricate verses. I heard that if you read the Koran in Arabic (which I cannot b/c I dont know Arabic), it is like a beautiful poem and very hard to recreate.

Just so ya know all Christian religions believe this. It's pretty much the basis of the whole religion.

the basis of the religion is the blessed trinity. The belief that God is the Father, the son, and the holy ghost

if you dont believe this then your not a christian

whats really cool is that the proficey (sp) for mohammed is in the bible...i forget the exact book and chapter or whatever, but the guy read it out loud in class...i was like "woah"
