when you do get a hood print either one of these pages and take it in to the store and they'll give it to you for that price if they stock it. at harbor freight i never pay regular price so i can spend less money and buy more tools.

I definitely need auto. Just dealing with one tone black doesn't cut it when you try to trace your welds... THATS the TRUTH!!!!!

yeah that takes practice but but another advantage of having an auto hood and not the face shield frees up your other hand for better control of the torch.

also i don't know much about brazing but that might be an option for fabbing aluminum intakes

I don't know much about brazing either. It is difficult, it uses brazing rods with flux, and a brazing torch. It melts like flux and solder when it applies. I saw an introduction to brazing in my construction class it seems more like an art form, and it looks difficult compared to welding.
