Trust me, with the rise in drifting, RWD Japanese cars have surmounted the purchase price of European cars of the same year.

You can buy an '89 BMW cheaper than you can buy an 89 240sx or Miata. It's not so much because the Nissan or Mazda is better, it's because they still have yet to associate BMW's with drifting. Japanese RWD cars are still the populous, especially Nissan, in drifting, BMW has always had a spot in the Grassroots of Motor Sports, but unil recently it's always been about grip, what BMW is famous for.

A 240 and a Miata have two VERY differing characteristics. One is a roadster made for nothing but handling turns at the highest speeds possible, the other is a compact coupe designed for moving people around.

The Miata has no back seats and no room to move ANYWHERE, the 240 is more person oriented so it's only expected that you can move around in one of those, LOL!

lol "event?"

HAHAHA!

But yeah, the Miata is a good car, I don't understand the hate that I'm feeling here, it's like, we hate cars that can do things that ours can't? What's next, hating BMW's because they handle TOO well? Noooooo, The Miata isn't exactly what I would call a Macho car, it always has and always will be perceived as a feminine vehicle. That reputation will not go away so easy, but more and more guys are driving them and they prove themselves and have proved themselves enough to earn their OWN spot in the SCCA for their own devision of racing. You can't deny that. Personal opinions aside, the Miata is a marvel of vehicular engineering.

Honestly, I agree with you. The Miata is a GREAT handling car with the right suspension. It's true that it's underpowered, but there are very few cars like it out there that you can push through a corner, full throttle!

I'll give you guys that; it's really girly. That movie "Corky Romano" always comes to mind, when I think about it...lol.

I still think it's a good platform other than the typical stereotypes. I tend to not care about that when it comes down to performance.

The 240sx is underpowered too man! That was it's biggest complaint when it was new. Eat that all you 240 owners with your underpowered engines.

Oh, right.....

Oh, right.....

Yeah but the 240sx has sloppy suspension from the factory.

That gets me, Alex Pfeiffer and I were talking about this at the Formula D event. He said it's funny how people claim that their car is "such a great drifter" (owners of 240's, Corollas and such) but the fact that it only drifts because of how crappy the suspension setup is. It has no choice but to put the rear end out in a turn. LOL! Funny how he couldn't knock down the Bimmer, although he did tell me that he'd put his Corolla against it any day! Makes me think.
