Question horsepower question

my friend thinks that exhaust and intake added onto a stock car will give u 0-1 hp because u need to time the gas/etc to achieve hp gains please give me your opinion btw the car he is specifically talking about is a stock 90 crx si

0-1 is a bit too dismal. Maybe 5-10 hp at the most w/o proper tuning. All you're doing is freeing up HP that stock parts restrict. you're not making hp. Bolt ons are more noticable when internal work has been done and stuff. However, bolt ons with some tuning will gove over 5-10 hp.

ALSO, it depends on the kind of exhaust and intake u have. Some out rank the others.

not so much intakes, they're pretty much the same principle except maybe the filter.. more so exhausts can differ in the performance achieved.

it depends on the car in TPR the car mag they tested diff cars with intake and exhoust set ups and on a s2000 they actually lost 1 or 2 horses but it will better the next mod if you know what i mean kinda like a gronding system it wont do much by itself but it will help other mods

and when it comes to intakes theres not much to them the wepon R intake has two intake pipes one inside the other this has been provin to add around 10 to 15 hp depending on the car

From stoch dohc motor (155hp) adding a K&N drop in filter, a Z32 fuel filter, and cut airbow what do you think hp would be?
