all hail the pride of mother russia, the m91/30
i've made some small alterations to it. the most noticeable is the scope and new color. the scope is a ncstar 2-7x32 pistol scope. i decided to go with a pistol scope becuase of the mounting location. since it's so far from away i needed something with a long eye relief.
the original finish was rough and scratched so i sanded the stock stained it and steel wooled (i don't think that a word but it will suffice) it. now the stock is smooth and feels like a quality rilfe should. while i had the stock off i also sanded a bit where the barrel rests to give it a free floating affect. i also shortened the stock and cleaning rod but now i kind of wish i hadn't done that.
here are some comparisons that will help illustrate the sheer awesomeness of the m91/30.
from left to right we have; the standard ar15 round the .223, next we have the 7.62x54r, lastly a popular deer rifle caliber the 30-06.
the 7.62x54 is considerably larger than the .223 and slightly shorter (about 6mm) than the 30-06 but it is also wider than the 30-06.
