Is there an advantage to a shorter barrel? I'd imagine the longer barrel would be more accurate . . . well in shotgun terms...

I dunno anything about picking one, I used a Binelli M4 Military when I was in the Corps, that was semi-auto.

 

im selling my Stoeger Model 2000

its a Semi-Auto 12 gauge and holds 4+1 rounds with a 28" barrel and 5 chokes

its the upper one the one on the bottom is my baby the Saiga

 

a shorter barrel acts like a choke in the way the spread pattern is greater. a 28" barrel with pistol grip would be ideal for home defense imo. it gives you the maneuverability of a compact firearm and greater accuracy.

 

Short barrel, the blast will spread sooner. You want that in a close quarter situation, at least for shot guns. If you're looking for a concentrated shot, then you're better off with an AR.

Longer barrel is more for gaming/hunting as the blast will be grouped tighter due to the length of the barrel. Not really ideal for home defense, especially coming around corners and small hallways.

Benelli recently made a semi-auto shotty that has zero recoil. They even have tests where a pro skeet shooter shot and hit clay pidgeons holding the shotgun with just one hand. But the cost of the shotty is just too much; ~ $2000 for said shotgun.

 

Its also a 28 gauge dave wants a 12

 

I've been thinking about getting a Charles Daly, they look purdy . . .

I am not a big fan of Charles Daly, they are cheap shotguns. You should consider a Winchester 1300 Defender http://www.grouseriver.com/ProductDe...ode=GUN-000300

 

not a fan of charles daly either, but they are chambered for 3" and 3 1/2" shells. i believe the winchester will only take 2 1/2" and 3".

 

I guess what I should be asking is: Will it fire and kill the bad guy who has the misfortune of breaking into my house? And will it blast the heads off of the robotnazizombies when they attack in December of 2012?

mossberg, remington, or winchester are what i like and in that order. mainly becuase of the price, although all three companies (or two i should say) make great firearms.

 

Mossberg 500a = 12 gauge in both 28 and 18" barrels

500a is the barrel combo sold at big5 for about $250. Done deal, fun barrel and home defense barrel in one pop. Or find a used Remington from PD. Those are fun!
