EDIT: I also like this model, it's a little longer so it may not be ideal for home defense, but it looks good, so it has my vote:

I'm going to have to disagree with you on this one bro. I haven't read too many negative reviews about them, and being the largest manufacturer of weapons in their class (single shot shot guns and rifles) has to account for something. Some of that has to pan over.

I'd still rather buy from an American manufactured plant as opposed to China, but the reviews seem to speak for themselves and I always (in the instance of inexpensive weapons) sense that people get what I call "Hi-Point Syndrome". They see the price, read one or two reviews and automatically dismiss it as a cheap, low quality weapon. People who have never fired a Hi-Point all say the same thing, it's ugly, it's big, bulky, chunky and top heavy and will jam every round. When in reality, yeah it's big, bulky and chunky, but almost EVERY poly-gun is going to be top heavy, even my Glock is. In reality, a Hi-Point will hold it's own, quite well mind you, against weapons that are priced 4-10 times it's price. It may not be the best for personal carry, but for home defense and showing off at the range at 25 yards, a Hi-Point will do that every time. And they enjoy +P munitions in every caliber, LOL!

I'll do some more research as I'm really digging that pump-action, and we'll see what I wind up going with. Who knows, it may be one of their shotguns, it may be from another manufacturer.

*shrugs*

i've never heard of new england arms, the maverick is a mossberg, and we all know you can't go wrong with mossberg. the saiga 12 is a bit more spendy but who wouldn't want an ak 47 that fires 12ga rounds.

if anyone with a saiga is looking to do the pistol grip conversion, i have a collapsible stock i decided not to use. i'll be putting it on ebay in a few days if no one want's it.

i'm thinking $40 shipped is a fair price. if you do move the trigger group you'll need this or a similar stock. i decided to go with the original ak style but i wasn't able to cancel the order in time and since i don't have a need for two stocks, i might as well sell one.

So far I have upwards to 30 guns total. A few have never been shot. I'll get pictures of all of them. My newest addition is my dpms ar-15 with adjustible stock and quad rails, and an acog. and I love shooting it! I'm kinda looking at a benili sbe2 but Im still undecided. And for those who hate on hi-point I don't see why. My friend bought a hi-point 9mm rifle and we have put many rounds through it and not one single jam. And it's accurate to a certain distance.

I have a question, I've already got my shotgun picked out, I'll post pics once I'm done paying it off . . . but I'm curious about tactical rifles.

I'm used to the USMC standard 556 M16A2, good weapon, jams a bit but very accurate . . . .and with my training, I already know how to shoot one. Should I be looking to replicate this in my collection?

Is 22 caliber a good caliber to have in a tactical rifle? When this 2012 BS starts up and people start rioting, I want to be able to pick fuggers off from a distance, is this a good round for that? LOL! Nah, in all seriousness I just want to have some plain old fun with a tactical rifle at the range and be guaranteed a little long range defense. Is .22 still considered to be underpowered even when mated to an MP5 or AR15/M16 clone?

first off it IS an AR15 not a clone so stop calling it that. Infact the ones you can buy as a civilian are much higher quality then the ones they get in the military esp the USMC LOL

anyway go 5.56 and just buy .223 rounds a .22 is fun and cheap to shoot but meh.

i am selling my DPMS ar-15 for $600 firm cause i am in desperate need of money but selling accross state lines would be a problem i think.

when i have money again im going to buy an AR-10

.308 ftw

my .22's are for practice and nothing more. sure if i had to i'd use them for self defense but in all honesty unless it's a head shot i don't think they'd be very effective.

as for a good tactical rifle? i'm beginning to be more and more of a fan of hi point. my 995 has fired about 100 trouble free rounds. this carbine is available in 9mm and .40. i'm not sure i'd trust it with my life just yet, but so far it seems like it would do fine. the only complaint i have it that it only holds 10 rounds per mag.

kel tec makes a number good carbines. my favorite is the sub 2000, it's available in 9mm and .40. it's also designed to accept common magazines. so if you have a glock or s&w pistol, you may be able to use any high capacity magazines you may have.

After watching that, and from my experience with hi-point. I would never own one. That would be horrible for home defense.

Scenario:
Someone breaks in with a firearm
You pull out your hi-point
Burglar points gun at you
You attempt to fire
Gun jams
You, "one second let me unjam this while you wait patiently for me to do this"
Burglar, "oh yeah take your time"

Nice shooting though.

Thanks, broski. Shaban, you always make me laugh with how you phrase things . . .absolutely awesome man! I will have to say yes, this weapon is horrible for preliminary firing. It down right sucks. Jammed every magazine. However, I will say that the weapon fired seamlessly after putting a few magazines through it. I was told this would happen. It would want to hiccup quite a bit for the first 3 magazines or so, but after that would be near perfect and that's pretty much how it went down. I have more videos to come, but I won't be able to upload them until later.

In the weapons defense, in a home defense situation, the weapon will fire the round in the chamber and at the distances found in the average apartment home, single family home and even large single-family home, you're not shooting very far and I'm almost certain I'll hit my mark in one round.

Thanks again for the compliment though, I really do feel good getting back out to the range. It's awesome! I definitely recommend it to any one who wants to blow off some steam, LOL!
