I have a scope similar to that, I just need something wicked to put it on . . .been thinking about getting a tactical rifle for CQB or something like that . . .

battosaii930 01-17-2010 12:42 PM

i was thinking of changing it to an A3 upper. its not expensive and its kinda what i wanted.

they all go for around $100

http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/ARR168-7.html

what do you guys think?

HKST04Z 01-17-2010 05:37 PM

id say go for it if your intention is to get some optics it

battosaii930 01-17-2010 05:43 PM

yea i wanted some optics and a light so i wana get a rail too

jramosthe1st! 01-18-2010 11:36 AM

i wouldn't if i were you adam. the only reason i got a flat top is because it was $100 cheaper. then when i decided to get the rear sights for it i found this scope. it was more appealing so i got it instead. but if you realy want a flat top i'm sure you can find someone who is willing to swap recivers with you.

HKST04Z 01-18-2010 01:10 PM

the flat top ones are cheaper? it was exactally the opposite when i got my bushmaster, solid iron sights on the upper was about 200 cheaper than the m4a2 or m4a3 which had the flat top mount

jramosthe1st! 01-18-2010 04:36 PM

i don't know about all makes, but my double star was $100 cheaper.

are they corrosive, if not where did you get them and for how much?

HKST04Z 01-26-2010 10:44 AM

they are non-corrosive full metal jacket rounds. and i bought them from a gun shop a couple blocks away from my house for about $120 for 500 rounds.

jramosthe1st! 01-27-2010 03:41 PM

i'm curious to see what the mosin will do to the target.

HKST04Z 01-27-2010 10:31 PM

we're not allowed to shoot at steel targets at the ranges down here :( stupid california... but i dont doubt i can get through 3/8 thick steel at about 70-100m.

jramosthe1st! 02-05-2010 08:53 PM

well this really isn't a range, but more of a segment of land where many go shooting. it's privet property and the owner is fine with people shooting out there as long as we keep it clean. although lately there;s been a lot of littering so i'm not sure how much longer we'll be allowed to go shooting there.

on a bit of a side note, today i took my fist step towards my next purchase. i bought a box of jhp .357 mag. i would have bought some .38spl rounds for target practice but they were sold out.

HKST04Z 02-05-2010 10:14 PM

s&w .357 mag? :D

jramosthe1st! 02-06-2010 07:21 PM

ok guy's and possibly gal, once again i'd like to remind everyone about the importance of always adhering to proper gun use/safety. only this time i'll use a visual aid.

here is my foot.
http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o...DSCF0727-1.jpg

notice the two .22lr size holes? that is the result of a split second of negligence. so be safe at all times.

battosaii930 02-06-2010 07:28 PM

how did it happen man wow

jramosthe1st! 02-06-2010 07:41 PM

i failed to engage the safety when decocking my single action revolver. the hammer slipped from my thumb and fired the round which was aimed at the ground ahead of me at the time, but during the slip ended up being aimed directly at my heal.

battosaii930 02-06-2010 08:24 PM

damn man that sucks but im glad your ok

jramosthe1st! 02-06-2010 10:31 PM

other than my pride being hurt and some paint in my heal, i am fine and hope someone will learn from my blunder. it's not something i'm proud to be sharing but hopefully some good will come of it.

HKST04Z 02-07-2010 11:00 PM

ow owwwwwww did you hit any bones or tendons?

jramosthe1st! 02-08-2010 01:00 AM

i don't think so, some x-rays were taken and about an hour later the dr. walked into th room, said i was fine, and immediately left. i have full mobility and what not, but the back of my foot is extremely sore, and occasionally throbbing.

i've kept many personal friends in the dark about it for now because it's rather embarrassing that this could happen to me. especially after all the safety tips and what not that i've given them. i've both literary and figuratively shoot myself in the foot on this one. but the girls at the er just loved the fact that i was ok with the whole ordeal and was joking with them the entire time.

HKST04Z 02-14-2010 09:55 PM

damn man that sucks. oh well **** happens though...

also lately i've been goin to the range a lot more last weekend i took out the mosin for a few shots
http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f2...h_IMG_2004.jpg

and just today i took out the AR out again today will post vid later

HKST04Z 02-14-2010 11:45 PM

Picked up a Holster today . . .not the slimmest or the most CCW-esque but I like it, it works and I mean . . .it's a FULL FRAME .45ACP . . .what do you want? LOL!

And yes . . before anyone asks, I carry this EVERY DAY and EVERYWHERE I GO! I live the "Obligation-of-Carry" every day and know it's important to protect myself and those around me. I carry this as I used to my Glock 17. Yeah, it's cumbersome and bulky, but it works and it's like condoms and my VISA, I never leave home without it and I'd rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it.

Also re-upped my CCW license . . .

HKST04Z 02-19-2010 11:17 AM

nice man! your soooo lucky that you have your CCW.... for me to get one of those here is like winning the lottery and ive even heard stories of people getting crap from local PD even with the CCW license, here all we can do is unloaded open carry, and even then you still get loads of crap from police.

jramosthe1st! 02-19-2010 11:23 AM

what are the requirements for getting a cc license in ga? i ask becuase i'm trying to get one for oregon, and california if possible, then maybe georgia since i ma at some point visit it again. i've heard about the stuff in cali with the open carry, kind of silly if you ask me. what's the point of carrying an unloaded gun?

USMCDrifter 02-19-2010 01:14 PM

It's actually VERY easy and easier for me since I was gov't law enforcement.

Just go into the probate court

Fill out the form for your firearms license/CCW (it's the same thing here)

Do a manual index print

Then go to a specified place to do your electronic fingerprint scan, all fingers, both hands
Wait 2-6 weeks and it's done. I got mine back quick because my prints and records are all on file from being a LEO. It took 3 weeks from initial payment (52.90 for prints and 16 for the form) to the day when I got my CCW back in the mail.

since a TON of people apply for a CCW, and almost 99% of them get denied, people. so what they do is open carry an unloaded holstered weapon on one side of them, and carry a NON-concealed loaded magazine on the otherside. so in other words you just cannot have the mag in the gun while you open carry. good things with open carry, you dont need a permit to do so, and your allowed to conceal carry speed loaders and bullets in your pocket for a revolver because the revolvers dont technically need the speed loader to function. where as the slide pistols need the magazine to function so you need those to be in visible too. MAJOR downside to open carry in CA is that even though its legal, police WILL with no doubt question, if not detain you for what you are doing. reason being most of the police here aren't aware that open carry is legal. and of course there are rules. things like you cannot go anywhere near any school zones or govt. establishments (places like post offices or city halls). All in all its useless to apply for a CCW here, and if you plan to open carry, which is 100% legal if done properly, don't do it unless your ready to deal with local PD. I myself have had 2 run in with county sheriffs and they HATED what i was doing.

jramosthe1st! 02-19-2010 01:58 PM

when i got my license here in wa it was a lot easier than i though it would be. monday i went to local pd, (which is about 4 blocks away), i was given the appropriate form and was told to come in on wednesday to get finger printed, i got my license in the mail that saturday. had i known it was that easy i would have got one as soon as turn 21.

but i guess if i have to physicality appear to get one from others states i guess i'll only get one for oregon, it's about an hour drive for me so it's not a bad idea to get a ccw there if i can.

HKST04Z 02-19-2010 03:31 PM

you don't have to prove residency when you apply for a ccw outside of your home state?

jramosthe1st! 02-19-2010 04:14 PM

that's one of the questions i'd like to get answered myself. a guy at work told me that i could get a ccw for oregon also but i'd like to know for sure. that's something i'll ask next time i'm in the area.

nvrstock 02-20-2010 11:45 AM

for ccw's you didnt use to have to prove residency. the thing alot of people do is get out of state ccw's. my dad got one from florida about 5 years ago and we live in va. The reason he got one from Fl is because it "was" (not sure if it still is) valid in more states that a VA permit. (which is where we live) the laws have been changing so i dont know if you can still do that or if floridas is the best one to get. If you have regular gun shows in your area i would check them out and ask around.

Your state may also have an organization that can tell you about all these different things. In va it is the VCDL (Virginia commonwealth defense league) most of those people are pretty cool.

BTW hope your foot feels better.

And just to add I love my FN Herstal FN9 and my para Ordinance compact .45 Ill post some pics later.

anyone ever shot the FN Five Seven? loving that gun but havent gotten to fire one.

and i Saw some posts earlier about power and size gunes. One of the best firepower and small size guns ive shot is a tukarev smaller then my .45 but shoots a 7.62 x 25.

USMCDrifter 02-20-2010 12:53 PM

In GA you have to be a resident of the county in which you apply for your CCW.

jramosthe1st! 02-20-2010 01:22 PM

hey dave, is that hustler fixed or can it be adjusted depending on where you wear it?

USMCDrifter 02-20-2010 08:47 PM

It's fixed . . . :(
