yea i know you have to prove residency in Texas and California which are the two states i'm in most, but no chance am i getting one in CA, and i'm not technically a resident in Texas. This map is also useful http://apps.carryconcealed.net/legal...state-laws.php if you click your state it will tell you what states will honor other states permits and what not. pretty neat

thanks for the link, and i sure am glad i don't live in california any more.
this is the one i care about at this point.
Right-To-Carry Law Type: Restrictive May Issue Effective January 1, 2001, no handgun may be manufactured within California, imported into California for sale, lent, given, kept for sale, or offered/exposed for sale unless that handgun model has passed firing, safety, and drop tests and is certified for sale in California by the Department of Justice. Private party transfers, curio/relic handguns, certain single-action revolvers, and pawn/consignment returns are exempt from this requirement. Also note that there are large capacity magazine registration requirements.
Oregon does not recognize concealed weapons permits from any other state. If you wish to review the law you can go to: http://www.leg.state.or.us/ors/166.html and read 166.291. As you can see from ORS 166.291(8) which says "The county sheriff may waive the residency requirement in subsection (1)(c) of this section for a resident of a contiguous state who has a compelling business interest or other legitimate demonstrated need," the sheriff of each county has some discretion for a resident of a contiguous state. You would need to check with the sheriffs to see what their requirements are.

shot my S&W M&P 9mm compact for the first time. its ****en awesome i love it and almost no recoil for such a small gun kinda surprised me
also shot 200 rounds w/o a hiccup.... er well once i was trying different hand positions and hit the mag release while firing.... but that was my fault the gun worked 110%

on a bite of a side note, i've received one of the bills for my little ordeal last month. it looks like i'll have to postpone some gun purchases for a bite longer.
i did however decide what .357 revolver i'd like to get, just not any time soon. so here are the guns that i will not be buying all becuase of my stupidity.
although i probably will still get a mosin nagant of my own since i can get one with 440 rounds for about $200

yes.
about six months ago i took some tests for my local pd. i passed physical and reading/knowledge portions easily, i didn't do so well on the panel interview though. a few years before that i took some written tests for the state troopers but was disqualified becuase of some traffic tickets. imo it was completely absurd because one of the questions asked if i was willing to engage in aggressive driving. obviously they wanted me to answer yes, but when i came to light that i had the tickets to prove that i was, i was told i had been disqualified.
