So I stopped modifing my car, and modified my garage.
It all started with a simple idea. Remove everything from the garage sweep up and power wash the floor to get the oil stains out. Reorganize and get ready for my 5 lug and z32 brake swap.
Should of known nothing stays simple with me. Once I had removed everything from the garage, my dad says "might as well paint the walls since you have everything out." as he walks through the garage to get into his car. I ran the idea past my buddy and he said paint one of the walls yellow. Contact my interior decorator (sister) and she concurs. The paint is purchased and work begins. Before I started painting I borrowed another buddies power washer and decided to hit the floor with it to get rid of the oil stains. Boy was that a waste of time. Not a single spot came loose. I told him what happened and he suggested I do an epoxy coating on my floor. I got home and researched the idea. After reading up I decided it was the way to go. I was deciding between the cheap Lowe's version for $62 or the kit from www.epoxy-coat.com. Epoxy-coat.com got my money. In the end a simple cleaning session for 1 day turned into a month long rehaul of the garage. The results I feel were worth the time and money. It was brand new when used. The bristles were 2 inches long when used. This is at the end of the acid washing. http://www.bumnah.com/garage/IMG_8401.JPG End result from the acid washing: http://www.bumnah.com/garage/IMG_8403.JPG http://www.bumnah.com/garage/IMG_8404.JPG Friday Night I finally laid down my epoxy coating. With the flakes, and the anti slip. Looks great. I'm running the base boards now, but I gotta redo some of the walls to make the base board look proper. So I gotta hit it up again later this year. http://www.bumnah.com/garage/IMG_8407.JPG Check out that shine! http://www.bumnah.com/garage/IMG_8410.JPG http://www.bumnah.com/garage/IMG_8416.JPG An idea of what it'll look like with all the base board run along the bottom: http://www.bumnah.com/garage/IMG_8409.JPG Car finally back in it's home: http://www.bumnah.com/garage/IMG_8419.JPG I'm going to do a how to on how to etch your floor for the epoxy, and how to lay down the epoxy coating. If you do this. Spend the $ and get this kit: www.epoxy-coat.com. Great customer service. I got only 1/2 the kit the first time and it was properly sealed, I called them up about it, and they send me an entire new kit, no charge. That's great customer service. www.bumnah.com/garage for more pix Thanks for looking! |
recently did this to my shop...what a major difference.
the only thing i dont like about it, is when it gets dirty(after it rains and oyu park a car in there) or something similiar...the floor will never be clean again. that dirty water dries on it and never comes off. you might take down a shade or two but never clean. all in all....a HUGE upgrade to a floor |
Dude thats friggin nice. Are you gonna put the HKS and other banners back up? If not can I have them? Pleeeeease??? If not where can I get em?!
hahaha. HKS banner is going to be with me for life. a buddy of mine got it for me. i don't even think they sell 'em.
Ugh, I'm so jealous. I've seen, touched, and tasted an epoxy floor in person and it's great
you guys at least have a garage to mod, all i have is my drive way. hot in the summer cold in the winter.
.
my father in law is upgrading his floors soon. i guess that'll be the experiment that seals the deal with me to do it to my house.
looks great, i want a garage
Yeah **** yes, That looks really nice bro.
My garage was that nice at one point but every ****ing dirtys it and now the floors are so dirty and mangled. Oneday when I get my own place my garage shall be mint. |
check that out bumnah, you just started a revolution of dreamers
pffsh. this is a 9 year dream come true for me. i've wished for a garage of my own since I was 18. i purchased my house in 04, and only now do i have some expendable income to take on fun projects like this. it started by seeing pictures on a forum for me as well.
so i finally got everything back in and organized. Figured I should update the thread once more. Poster and stuff back up. Some of my other ones I'm having my sister frame for me so I don't tear tear them up. It's great having the garage organized makes working on cars so much easier.
here's a new work bench and chair i picked up: http://www.bumnah.com/garage/IMG_8506.JPG a shot of everything: http://www.bumnah.com/garage/IMG_8505.JPG how she looks and my desktop background: http://www.bumnah.com/garage/IMG_8511.JPG I can finally start up on my 5 lug/z32 brake conversion. Enjoy. |

Holy ****, I hate you.
maybe you should have gone with a green, you know like for movies with special effects.
Ugh I need me some banners. I'm so jealous. Where can I get some banners?
you can get the 3ft skyline poster from bfgoodrich on their website for like bucks if i remember correctly
awesome garage. all I have is the street or driveway at my girlfriend's house. I can't wait when my mom buys a house and have a garage to store/work on my car.
Just gonna swing from your nuts on the garage a bit...
Amazing work. truly jealous. I wish I had a garage half as nice as yours... hell, I wish I actually had a garage. Sucks living in an apartment complex :( |
i hate living in an apartment complex too cause people can jus break into your car and steal your tools and your gauges
tell me about it. apartment complex's suck. i get all my work done at my girlfriend's place. she's got a nice big driveway, and her weekend-mechanic dad hooks it up with air tools and the like :buttrock:
awesome garage. it's definitely got me dreaming. |
The grass is dieing. Driveway needs to be sealed next year, but atleast my garage is getting better!
I've been working on the garage on and off. My latest bit of change would be the lighting. I had 2 dinky light bulbs for lights in the garage. Buddy and I went to lowes and picked up some lights. Light assembly and tubes ran less then $100. Took any hour to mount and wire up. Output is much better. Here a picture of how the lights were: http://www.bumnah.com/garage/IMG_8512.JPG See that dinky little light on the ceiling right above the hood of the car? yeah that spec up there. Replaced that with 2 8' long light sections. 4 4' tubes in each section. Light out put is much better After: http://www.bumnah.com/update/lights.jpg I also picked up a vice. To aid in stuff. http://www.bumnah.com/update/vice.jpg The garage is a little dark near the garage door since there aren't any lights there. I may put in 2 4' lights and have it lit up better. Next up wall mounting speakers, and running speaker cables to my stereo receiver in the computer room directly above. |
So whenever you want to change the song/station you have to go upstairs? You should get a separate reciever or hook the speakers up to your computer and get one of these
http://us.st11.yimg.com/us.st.yimg.c..._1976_18887620 and run the cord through the floor and mount the sensor on your ceiling. |
My garage looked like this when we first moved in, now the painted floor is dirty as hell and there is clutter everywere. I gotta clean it up.
The other garage at my friend's dad's place should be dope come spring time. |

i envy.

your garage is badass dude...nice pic
...and i still want that HKS banner...do it |
damn, nice garage. If i was driving by and saw that, id def stop and see who lived there. haha
What garage isn't complete without this?
http://www.bumnah.com/general/press01.jpg http://www.bumnah.com/general/press02.jpg $180 out the door from Harbor Freight. It's cheap, and it's pretty ****ty. The press will serve it's purpose to helping me press out out bushings on 2 different suspension setups sitting in my garage. It's better than burning/drilling bushings out. Sorry, the garage is a pig sty. I will clean it up soon. ENJOY! |
nice
lol at the water bottles in the vice! |
i bought the 12 ton press for $80 and yes it sure beats any other method of installing and removing bushing, bearing and so forth. if you didn't get the bearing race plates you should. that way you don't have to waste time looking for an appropriate size piece of metal. also i remember seeing that press on their web site for less. if withing 30 days is goes on sale you can take in your receipt and get the difference back.
link for race plates please :)
i remember them having some black ones cheaper but these are the only ones i found on their site. just look around in the store for the others. and don't ever order anything from their catalogs the shipping is terrible.
